    Wierd 68 rfe shifting

From several of the posts that spanned over some years on several forums only a few had taken them to the dealer and were told it’s normal. If I had to jump out on a limb I would probably guess its emissions related somehow. Emissions are one of those throwing darts at the wall trying to see...

    Wierd 68 rfe shifting

Well, there are a ton of people out there with this same exact complaint. From older to brand new trucks. You are correct in guessing it’s not right, probably off the game if you mean not purposeful.

Mine 2012 2500 does a similar thing and won’t kick down. My recent trip I had to keep kicking it out of 5th to keep it from lugging down below 1500rpm while pulling a pontoon up a hill. I did some research and saw a lot of complaints about similar things. I think it’s terrible shift logic.

I’m not jumping to that conclusion yet. I was just curious. Nothing jumps out at me as to what the issue could be besides my last oil sample would have had tons of cold weather and idling on it. The truck doesn’t lack any power and hauls easily.

There is phenomenal information here. Thank you for giving me some things to look at. If I do come to a conclusion it’s an injector. What replacements are recommended?

Fuel dilution isn’t the only cause of viscosity break down

I can’t speak to that as I’ve used both in the past and had similar results from both leading me to believe they are both pretty reputable and wouldn’t question using either. I’ll say on my Subaru I had a lot of uoa done and I never saw a fuel dilution above a few tenths of a % even at 100k...

I haven’t condemned it. I’m actually kind of surprised the truck is still in one piece at 200k miles of farm duty. My other Chrysler products haven’t been so lucky. Some of my overall plans with my truck changed after I bought it and life pooped on my fun so it got resigned to daily driver...

I’ve got about 3k on my current oil. Should I drain it and check it and see what it is? I was told that during the winter it isn’t uncommon to see a higher % because of the long idle and freezing temps. I’ve got more 6600 hours on my truck if you needed an exacter idea

Sorry for being so late to reply. My last oil change only showed 4% dilution after 3k. From what I’ve found I’ll run with that. I’ve not noticed any notable gains on my dipstick so far this summer. So everything is good with that. As far as hours the truck has 6k or something I’ll have to...

It made probably just over a quart. I’ve got my sample collected to send out. I’ll try to remember to update when I get information back.

My emissions equipment has 199k miles on it. If it fails or not it doesn’t matter. It’ll need replaced anyway. It’s all put aside until I figure out my oil situation. Thanks for the response though.

I haven't got a sample of the oil sent out. I'm going to try and change it this weekend, or next at the latest. I'll send some off to blackstone. Working with the theory it is high what are some steps to diagnose the problem?

I have zero concern about the emissions regulations and or getting busted. I'm not sure what to believe in one hand people are saying cummins engineered it perfectly, yet on the other hand the same people elsewhere are complaining that they are government mandated parts cummins was forced to...

After I changed the oil when I picked it up. It went from just below 1/2 on the safe zone on the dip stick to at the max line of the dipstick

Thanks for the response. Sadly I haven't had the chance to look more into it. I've been taking care of some other issues with the truck and it's just taken my time. I've also realized I've got a problem with making oil that could be any number of issues. Once I get that addressed I'll update...

Besides Chrysler, who makes new calipers?

You nailed it. Oems are nothing more than assembly companies. Everything from chassis to engine components are made by 3rd parties. Find the company they buy from and 90% of the time that same company sells in the aftermarket for half the cost or less.

Besides Chrysler, who makes new calipers?

Every once and a while the stars align and even the worst company produces an incredible model. Working in the automotive industry on the manufacturing side you see a lot of things that lead you to believe that even 10k miles out of some of these vehicles is nothing short of miraculous. In...

Besides Chrysler, who makes new calipers?

A lot of parts made for companies like Chrysler are made in factories close to where the assembly takes place. Usually if you watch the tier 1 suppliers and where they are expanding or building you can make a fair wager a oem like Fiat, gm, Ford, etc are expanding in or to that region. That...

My understanding was it's an issue with the non def vehicles.
