    Rpm Specific Vibration

I’ll give it a shot. I just don’t know if maybe the damper is moving on the rubber or heating up and making it wobble more. I know it’s a damper and not a balancer so I don’t really know what happens when it starts failing. The guy before me seems to have taken pretty good care of the truck...

    Rpm Specific Vibration

It does it coasting but only in gear and the clutch engaged. If I push the clutch and the engine drops to idle it goes away.

    Rpm Specific Vibration

I did leave out some important parts haha, I was in a hurry. This is not just one road so I don’t believe it’s a tire. It’s more of a low frequency vibration or pulse. I do have a higher frequency vibration at idle but it’s not terrible and I believe it’s just normal diesel vibration, but...

    Rpm Specific Vibration

I’ve got a vibration that seems to come and go. It’s pretty much always there and sometimes I can feel it at idle. It mostly comes in around 1300rpm and is strongest around 1500, and seems to fade away ~1800. The truck is an 05 and has an NV5600. It doesn’t seem to be affected by load at...

Couple question about a potential purchase

I put the old girl to work this weekend. We left Birmingham on Saturday morning and headed down to Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL for a nice long weekend at the beach. I’m really happy with the truck. It towed great, once I got up to speed out on the interstate I set the cruise at about...

Couple question about a potential purchase

New wheels are on my list for sure.

Couple question about a potential purchase

Well I bought it today. I’m so excited to have one of these trucks. I’ve loved them for 20 years. I hope I can get a few more out of this ole girl.

Couple question about a potential purchase

Thanks, I’m sorry I made multiple posts kind of about the same thing. We were supposed to do this deal last week but my friend from work backed out on me at the last minute and I’ve had too much time to rethink things. I think that if for some reason I don’t like the truck it would be pretty...

Couple question about a potential purchase

Well today is the day. I’m supposed to go get it this afternoon. I’ve got a 2011 Silverado 6.0L Vortec that it will replace. I’m a little nervous going to an older truck with higher miles. It will put some money in the bank and give me better towing performance but my stomach is in knots.

Couple question about a potential purchase

It is definitely an NV5600, reverse is to the right and up.

Couple question about a potential purchase

They are ridiculous. If it was 4wd I bet it would be $28k. Oh well got to pay to play. I think it will serve us well for towing.

Couple question about a potential purchase

Just to clarify from my first post, it’s not shaking the truck or shaking the doors. It’s not a low frequency like a miss it’s more of a buzz I guess. If I do purchase the truck I will be making money off of my current one and I will be putting some money back for injectors or any other...

Couple question about a potential purchase

I’m looking at a 2005 QCLB 4x2 with an NV5600. I have a couple of questions for you. Is it normal to feel a little vibration at idle? The drivers side mirror vibrates a little and I can feel it in the steering wheel. It’s nothing crazy it just feels a little like a tractor. It basically is...

New here and considering a diesel

Another update. We just got back from a 1500 mile trip throughout Florida and back home to Birmingham. We had a really good time. Averaged 7.5mpg for the whole trip. I manually shifted into 4th for most of the trip and just let it run at 3200rpm. It cruises along pretty good at that rpm at...

New here and considering a diesel

We had a really good time with the actual camping part. It took me about 30 minutes to set up once we got there. I have used my parents camper some in the past and had a little experience with getting everything connected so it wasn’t too big of a deal. We’re looking forward to the next trip...

New here and considering a diesel

Just to give a little update. We took our first trip this past weekend. It was about an hour and a half away. With the weight distribution the truck seemed to handle the weight pretty good and I had no problems slowing down. I took it easy getting up to speed. The truck would hold in 5th gear...

New here and considering a diesel

You know I think keeping what I have probably really is the best option. I am comfortable doing my own work but diesel parts are very expensive and I really don’t want somebody else’s problem. I’ve quickly realized that $20-25k doesn’t get you very far in this crazy market. I’m not scared to...

New here and considering a diesel

I do really like the 2nd gens but I think the smallest cab I’m willing to get is the 3rd gen QC. I’m not brand loyal and have considered Fords with the 7.3L and crew cab or possibly even a GM crew cab. That’s a beautiful truck you’ve got.

New here and considering a diesel

I’m not in a big hurry at all and I do plan on trying it out on a real trip first before I made any decision. I can probably extend my budget up to $25k or maybe a little more without the wife killing me haha.

New here and considering a diesel

Wow thanks for all the replies so far. I do have a weight distribution hitch with anti sway (friction not dual cam). I’m hoping we will be using it at least once or twice a month and probably more in the summer. My budget will be in the $20k range hopefully. I’m hoping to find a decent...
