"Box of wine" oil change review

I liked the motivation behind the idea. Rotella just needs to refine it a bit, i.e. a taller, shorter box that fits on top of the engine and a better spigot that is easier to drain into the fill hole. Not sure how they could change it so it is easier to dispose of the old oil, though. That's...

"Box of wine" oil change review

Just did an oil change, and this time I mixed it up a bit. When I was at the Mart of Walls I saw that they had a box of Rotella, contained in a 3 gallon bag. It was a few bucks cheaper than the 3 1 gallon jugs I've always bought before, so decided to check it out. First off, the box was...

    Loss of fuel pressure

You don't mention it, but were any codes thrown? I'd check that before anything else.

So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

Several years ago when I had my suspension rebuilt I asked the shop owner about air bags. He said they preferred to stay away from them because they wear out, and when they fail it's a bad fail. He told me that they prefer adding leaf springs instead. Since it was just a conversation and I...

So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

I definitely agree, but you have to balance the ups and downs. If an attorney can get you $5K more, but charges you $4500 to take the case, then you have to consider if it is worth your time and hassle for the money you end up with. That's why you negotiate the best deal you think you can...

So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

I don't have a lot of experience dealing with insurance companies, but when someone hit my previous truck they tried the same thing. Obviously, it's in their interest to short change you. But from what you said, I'd say keep on working with them to get someone out there so you can go over the...

So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

I think it was Ford that got caught, but other manufacturers were doing the same thing. Computers + Connectivity = Privacy Disaster. Several years ago the CEO of Ford said that they knew more about your driving than you did. Fast forward to 2024, and it turns out that vehicle manufacturers...

So there I was... Shopping for a new truck

I'd be a big fan of new...if it wasn't in the price range of a house, didn't collect all your personal data and sell it to insurance companies and whoever else wants all up in your grill, have that stupid feature that kills the engine when you stop the vehicle (probably doesn't apply to...

    Truck died

If that happened to my '03 I'd say it was the fuel transfer pump. But since they don't use that anymore we can rule that one out. The shuddering makes me think it's still fuel related, though. My best guess would be either a temporary line blockage or a blob of water in the fuel.

    Buc-ee's

I've been to Buc-ee's several times when there have been tour busses filled with teenagers on field trips, athletic trips, etc. During those times they cover the sidewalks in front of the store like crickets, eating their food and looking like hooligans ready to storm the store like a...

    Buc-ee's

Don't worry. When the newness wears off you'll still be excited about the lower fuel prices, great beef jerky and spotless bathrooms. And if you like to ranch--I mean hunt deer you'll enjoy their prices on deer corn.

And just like that, Australia is getting a Buc-ee's thanks to Keith Urban's wife...

    Buc-ee's

Bummer. That was a funny shirt. I wonder what the Buc-ee's employees reaction was when they saw it.

    Buc-ee's

Hmmm...that beaver on the shirt looks stoned. Can't be official merch, but it's funny as hell!

    Buc-ee's

Ah, so they are kind of like the Pilot of convenience stores... I don't really see them as a threat, either. No matter how many stores they have, they still won't be able to reach the volume of business Buc-ee's has for their targeted market. But if Casey's starts building giant superstores...

    Any electricians in the house?

24 years is a good chunk of time. Before you start throwing money at it I would turn off the breaker and ease the outlets out of the wall to check them for loose connections. Heck, for the price of an outlet it wouldn't hurt to replace them while you are in there with the power off. Loose...

    Buc-ee's

Move over Buc-ee's! Casey's is making a move, at least that's the way the article frames it. Casey's bought CEFCO, and is converting them all to Casey's stores. Almost 150 of these stores will be in Texas, stabbing at the heart of the Buc-ee's beast. So in terms of numbers, Casey's will have...

    Any electricians in the house?

You still have a burned out microwave and coffee maker, and those at least aren't false alarms. By any chance have you pulled the outlet that powered the microwave and coffee maker to see if any of the connections were loose? I had a kitchen outlet that was getting appliance plugs very hot...

    A new one for me

My first impression is that there is a problem in the key cylinder.
