    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2001.5 Cruise Control Issues

My guess would be a programming glitch in the ECM/PCM - often, totally disconnecting all power for a few minutes, then reconnecting, will "reset" the ECM/PCM, and all will be well - had much the same issue with wifes '05 Ford Escape, disconnecting battery and reconnecting cleared the issue...

    Vp 44 differences

My '02 is already the High Output version - not seen a dealer in 20 years, so no ECM updates from that source, if there were any available. My spare ECM was programmed for my truck's profile ('02 standard shift) some years back by one of the members here (Bob Hansen) on TDR - so assume it is the...

    Vp 44 differences

After reading all the above, I still wonder what the difference might be between the VP44 in my '02 HO as compared to the SO - and the ECM as well. I replaced my VP44 back at 22K miles - don't remember if any reference was made as to HO/SO engines. I also have a spare ECM - and dunno if there...

    Did You See The One?

HMMmm - looks like they caught up to my '02 2500 - mine did just under 500 HP and 1000 tq at the rear wheels with bigger injectors and Edge Comp. Sure made great towing with our 24 ft 5er - and the 17 mpg in mixed mountain and level towing was great too - even more welcome now with horrendous...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EGR Valve Image and Location

HMMmm - my truck is '02, 5.9 24 valve - blocked off the turbo boost control line (as I recall...), seen boost as high as 32 PSI, but never any over boost codes...

Need part number of injection pump access cover

Yup - been there, done that at about 22K on my '02...

    NV5600 Trans. gear oil

Problem I experienced with other than OEM lubes, was shifting gears - hot or cold - other name brands may well be better lubricants - but the syncronizer clutch material in the NV5600 seems to be very sensitive as to smooth shifting under normal hot/cold operation - at least in my particular transmission.

    NV5600 Trans. gear oil

Tried several name brands - the OEM stuff ended up best in my transmission...

    Engine Valve Adjustment

I wonder what the "average" cost is for a 24 valve adjustment these days?

    Second gear starts

I can only assume this relates to an automatic transmission? If not pushed hard or heavily loaded, might not be overly serious - but certainly not right. I have a 6 speed manual in my truck, and driving empty, always go from a dead stop in 2nd gear - low gear is so low, and there's enough power that...

    Mopar oil filter

JUST for the benefit of those not familiar with oil analysis - here's a sample of oil from my '02 at 20K on the oil, and the use of a bypass filter - I was having my oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs:

    Mopar oil filter

AMEN! IF, I was a big rig owner/driver, for sure, I'd want to get as many miles as possible out of my long haul bread and butter machine. My dad drove his own cattle truck, and used a bypass filter on his '55 chevy cabover truck for over 1 million miles, on 2 chevy 327 small block engines. a few...

    Mopar oil filter

Bypass oil filters are extremely good at what they do - but even running the cheapest over-the-counter full flow filter, this Cummins diesel will outlive me - and bypass filters to vast majority of owners of these trucks is usually a waste of time and effort. They have provided me with all the...

    Mopar oil filter

YUP - the newer trucks respond to tuners radically better than my generation... Here's that dipstick pic that doesn't work further back:

    Mopar oil filter

One thing that helps keep my oil - and exhaust - cleaner, is the Edge Comp I have installed - with its many available fueling settings, and even the larger injectors, I can adjust fueling for most any driving situation. With the truck empty, I run the Comp on it's lowest setting, and get hardly...

    Mopar oil filter

Sometimes hard to get across the basic fact - the denser the filter material, the finer it will filter out various unwanted particles. SO, in a given space, usually cylindrical for oil filters, a decent filter must provide a reasonable degree of filtration, at a specific rate of flow passing...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Had Valves Adjusted

HMMmmm - I forgot, DID have the valve cover off when the 1.6 injectors were installed... Years ago...

    Dana 80 Ugly Oil

To each his own - you have yours, I have mine..

    Dana 80 Ugly Oil

Yeah, I considered drilling the bottom housing to get ALL the lube out - but didn't like the idea of drilling and threading debris inside the housing. Too bad Dodge didn't provide a better drain location, since the LSD really could use relatively frequent changing...

    Dana 80 Ugly Oil

Earlier on, when testing different differential lubes, I got tired of the slooooow draining of lube, so drilled and tapped rear cover for a drain plug - things went lots faster then...
