    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) More exhaust sound

I don't mind going louder, I also wonder if each generation of truck has a inherent exhaust sound. Seems like I hear different tones from every truck I see (idling, acceleration, being passed on hwy). I think maybe those with the huge echo chamber tips are the loudest. I might be searching for a...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) More exhaust sound

I recently installed a 4" straight pipe system on my 2001. Are there any mufflers that I could install to make it sound more throaty(louder is ok, I'm old school).

    Injection pumps

I got a bad one once, wouldn't pump any fuel at all after install. Sent it back and they sent me a new one. I asked what was wrong with it, they said it didn't pump on the bench either and they put it back in line to be rebuilt. Never found out what was wrong with it. They didn't too have much...

P051b code after changing CCV filter

Well. I went to my son's work and popped the hood to look around for something out of place. What I found out of place was the oil fill cap. It was laying on the bat wing next to the dipstick. Wiped the oil mist off the valve cover and closed the hood, Called the boy and confessed. Being in a...

P051b code after changing CCV filter

I serviced my son's '21 truck yesterday including the CCV filter. He called me and said CEL came on. He had the code read and it was P051b. I reset service reminder for oil, fuel filters, CCV filter. It threw the code after he drove 50 miles.

    ATF+4 in a nv4500

I'm confused and probably showing my lube oil ignorance The 2001 NV4500 I have calls for 75W-90 gear oil, so I'm using RP 75W-90. ATF+4 seems awful thin for a transmission. My transfer case calls for ATF+4, so that's what I put in it. School me.

    Fass ddrp install

    Frt. end align. specs

Where can I find the TDR recommended specs. for 2nd Gen. 4wd truck alignment. I had mine done to published specs. a while back and the way the truck feels when I'm turning bothers me. It feels like the truck is fighting back during the turn. (either way)

voltage gage goes to 8 volt mark

I think the "Old Red Mare" deserves a new one. I have been blessed with the overall performance of my truck. In no order, here is a list of replaced parts since 2001, excluding wear and tear items. 2-VP44's, 1-lift pump, 1-radiator, 2-waterpumps, 1-Tappet cover gasket and vacuum pump rebuild...

voltage gage goes to 8 volt mark

OK, going to answer your questions 1 at a time. John- Leads as you stated, meter neg. on Batt. neg and meter pos. on alt. post. I used both of my meters, neither of which are Fluke class meters. My alt. is original with 325k miles/23 yrs. Never been off the truck until this episode occurred...

voltage gage goes to 8 volt mark

Good Idea, I'll load it up tomorrow. If it holds up for a few days, I'll return the grid heater to service and see what happens.

voltage gage goes to 8 volt mark

Correct, no warnings. Batts. are 8/2019 install. I haven't had them load tested recently, I usually do it yearly around this time. (checking to see if they'll make it through winter in Texas)
