    Transmission temp question

. I am concerned, and considering the fact that the truck is 20 years old it is is extremely good condition inside and out. I'd just like to make sure it continues to be reliable for a few more years. @steve69 Engine temp runs 190 to 200 degrees when towing, and doesn't seem to increase in...

    Transmission temp question

Thank you. There appears to be lots of data on the web that supports that.

    Transmission temp question

Yes using tow haul, but on the '05 tow haul only changes the shift points. It cannot be used to lock out OD. And yes, only seeing those temps when TC unlocked. At highway speeds in 4th gear TC locked all is fine.

    Transmission temp question

I've found very few threads on this issue. If you could link me to some of these discussions you mention I'd really appreciate it. After the mention above of the temp range of newer synthetic transmission fluids I did a little research and it appears that 220 - 230 is not that big of an issue...

    Transmission temp question

I'm probably around 9K loaded. I wouldn't have been concerned at 200 like you but when I hit 220-230 every now and then I get uneasy. Especially since the truck is 20 years old. I would just hate to be in the middle of nowhere and have the transmission or TQ crash. However, based on Ozy's...

    Transmission temp question

Yes Sir. Transmission cooling system is factory stock. I routinely inspect and clean radiator. I completely flush/change the oil (18 qts) every 25K miles. I've though about adding a deep pan, aluminum with fins, but from everything I've read this won't help much. I'm just trying to convince...

    Transmission temp question

2005 2wd 2500 CTD 125K miles. Excellent condition. I need advice. My transmission is shifting fine and I'm having no issues except for noticing higher transmission oil temps when pulling my 5th wheel trailer. For many years I've noticed the temp as measured in the pan to reach 220-230...

    '05 differential fluid capacity

Not to beat this dead horse, but I pulled the side plug and got no overflow, and the level was still perfect at the hole. The only explanation I've come up with is the fact that when I drained the fluid it was still warm from a 30 minute drive. Normally I drain it cold, but completely. Maybe...

    '05 differential fluid capacity

No, cover stayed on as usual. My garage floor is level and this is exactly the same location as previous changes. Thanks for input. I'm going to drive the truck today, and then remove the side level hole plug and see if it pushes any fluid out.

    '05 differential fluid capacity

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. It's been so long since I installed the cover I'm not sure if the manufacturer stated a capacity or not. The issue is why the additional .5 qt this time? The PML cover has been on the truck for over 3 fluid changes now. The first two required 4.5 quarts. The...

    '05 differential fluid capacity

Can't use mfg. spec as the after market PML cover adds additional fluid to diff. I don't know the exact amount. No dipstick to check. Yes, front pinion seal.

    '05 differential fluid capacity

I have a 2005 2WD CTD 2500. Years ago I put a PML cover on the rear differential and when replacing the fluid filling it until the fluid would start to run out the side fill hole. This usually ended up being 4.5 quarts. Last week I had the front seal of the rear end replaced. On changing the...

    Overhead console lamp switch

If someone just has to have the switch active in the console, I think this would be the answer: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/judco-manufacturing-inc/40-4169-00/611176 I'm not certain this would be a drop in replacement and that you could still push on the lens and activate the...

    Overhead console lamp switch

Not sure what you mean by the dime, but if they are used that means they are old and the plastic switches have deteriorated. Unfortunate they don't break, the upper and lower part of the switch body separate, probably due to heat.

    Overhead console lamp switch

Well I just tried something that I feel will provide a easy, cheap quick fix. I pulled the overhead console and removed the broken switch. This is a SPDT switch with one leg providing 12vdc to the bulb when the doors are opened, and the other leg providing 12vdc to the bulb when the lens is...

    Overhead console lamp switch

Apparently there is no availability on replacement lamp switches for a 2005 Ram 2500. I was curious if anyone has come up with a third party switch solution? I have one switch that fell apart, and based on past posts on this forum and others, trying to repair the plastic switch just offers a...

    100K miles maintenance

Well, after some research I have found this, both in the Dodge Service Manual and on other websites: "Cummins recommends adjusting the valve lash on 6BT (12v) engines every 24,000 miles or 24 months, whichever comes first. On later ISB models (24v), the valve lash is to be adjusted at...

    100K miles maintenance

That's pretty much everything I have on the list. The hoses still look great but I'm carrying spares just in case. The only thing I've never done is adjust valves. That's above my skills to do. Is it pretty standard to do this at 100K miles?
