2006 5.9 with part time rough idle

I guess I get to jump in on the rough idle bandwagon. I had a rough idle when the truck was warm only & as soon as any RPM was increased, it ran smooth. Now, magically the rough idle is gone, but the truck idles @ 50-75 RPM higher than normal. New FCA, Stanadyne used, good power, no injector...

    Fuel pump sound on startup

This is interesting to read... I had the same thing happen on my '03 after installing my Edge J/A box. The lift pump runs much longer as previously stated, but it does eventually shut off if I turn the key on and don't start the truck. I guess since it does eventually turn off if the truck is...

    Another Rough Idle Thread

I guess unplugging the boxes would be a good idea. I will have to give that a try when I get a chance. Also, the problem is temperature related, but rather than ambient air such as cold start rough running, it only does this when warmed up. I will keep this thread open as I further research...

    Another Rough Idle Thread

Yea, mine will surprise me now and then with a smooth idle and it never does it when cold. I guess this makes 2 of us... lets see if anyone has any suggestions. The truck runs great otherwise, but I hate pulling up to the jobsite, drive thru, stoplight, etc... . it sounds like crap. Thanks...

    Another Rough Idle Thread

OK, well I have looked through the archives in this forum and really am stumped with this one. The truck: 2003 SO CTD quad cab SB, 4x4, 48RE, 125000 miles, edge J/A, AFE stage 1 I have a rough idle once the truck is warmed up, but there are NO other symptoms. Good oil samples, new FCA...

100k miles and go fast goodies.

Sounds good... I second the guages as it won't be too long and you will have a box, injectors, turbo..... :D Tim

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

Update OK, so I ended up just replacing the FCA and the truck runs great... good consistent power, no noise etc. I hope you all don't just go replacing this part though, it was a risk and I don't have enough miles to confirm this as the problem. I will post back in a couple of weeks when I get...

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

Well, the more I do some reading, the more I am realizing just how common this problem is. I don't plan on running ATF as I really can't confirm that it is safe for the fuel system. Based on what I have read so far, my plan is the following, 1. Have a diagnostic done on the truck. . injector...

    Another Locker Question

    Another Locker Question

I spent a while looking for this information and could not come up with an answer... Is the AAM 9. 25 & GM 9. 2 the same? How about the AAM 10. 5 and the GM 10. 5? I have the 10. 5 rear in my 03 and was wondering of anyone has used a locker for the GM axle in one of our trucks...

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

Interesting... I had heard a few rumors about the ATF. I think I will also go ahead and replace the FCA. At $100, it seems worthwhile Thanks, Tim

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

Thanks for all of the replies... sorry to take so long to get back with everyone. I have not had a reliable internet connection for a while. All good suggesions... I guess from a troubleshooting perspective starting with the basics I will change the fuel filter and run the truck on edge level 0...

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

OK, Thanks. I kinda thought it may have to do with the ULSD fuel... any other thoughts?

Help! Timing Rattle...A Lot of it?!?

I have a 03 SO with the Edge J/A, AFE and no muffler, 100K. I have an intermittant timing rattle... very loud... usually at part throttle or low load conditions such as highway travel. There is a difference in the rattle between level 5 and 0 on the edge module, however other times there is no...

    Superchips flashpaq problems

Hi there, i just thought I would pass along some issues I have been having with my newly acquired flashpaq. I did a fair amount of research both on these boards and talking with friends and finally settled on the flashpaq to be run at their mild towing setting for mileage and a bit more power...

Scare With AMSOIL Dual Bypass Setup...Please Read

OK, sorry I started this and have not replied... had a family emergency over the weekend. I am still reading through some of these, but my truck is an '03, the application guide clearly stated that the '03 and older trucks could use this system. To answer one of the earlier posts, no, there was...

Scare With AMSOIL Dual Bypass Setup...Please Read

As some of you may have read a couple of days ago, I posted a concern regarding the drone associated with the full flow/bypass dual element system from AMSOIL and was told that this was a result of the oil pump noise transmitting up the lines to the filter head. With that knowledge, I decided...

Amsoil Bypass system installed, need help with engine noise!

Thanks for the replies, I think relocating the filter housing is probably the best option. I would think an engine mounted setup would solve the problem as it would be using the engine mounts for isolation (just like it was stock). Great ideas--thanks Tim

Amsoil Bypass system installed, need help with engine noise!

Well, I guess I didn't realize just how common this problem was. I did some more searching and found numerous people with this same issue. The best solution seems to be to try and insulate the filter head in some manner. Thanks again for the help Tim
