rear axle

My '95 2500 w/ 5 speed manual transmission, geared lower than snake **** with 4.10s and I'm thinking of going 3.73s just to make the daily driver aspect a little better. Before I go off and spend the money to re-grear I want to make sure I identified it right.

I found the breather fitting on my rear axle has broken off flush with the axle tube. This is one of those fittings that also hold the brake line junction to the axle. Is this just threaded in? I belive a small easy out will take it out. I'm thinking of replacing it with a 1/8" pipe fitting/hose...

Im on the familiar side of the full floating 14 bolt diff's but have no idea what Im actually looking at on my 07' 2500. it appears to be a Trac Rite carrier. can someone confirm this by the pictures ive attached. Has anyone seen damage like this.
