Started front brake pad replacement and thorough cleaning to prevent sticking pads.

I cleaned the part of the caliper with the clips that the pads ride on. Used aerosol brake cleaner with an old toothbrush. Took off the clips. Cleaned top and bottom. Used super fine emery cloth on tops and bottoms of clips. When the clips seemed smooth I placed them back on the caliper. Then I took a new pad to see how it slid on the clips.

Noticed that the pad was binding near the center of the clip. Filed the pad a little where it was binding. Pad still got stuck.

I'm wondering if I should get new clips.

Seems like I would have to file the pad notch way to much making the pads to loose.

Should I get new clips

Please advise.

If I understand correctly, I think that the clip is doing what it is supposed to do: stopping the pad from rattling/squealing.

Assemble it and drive it, if it needs clips, deal with it later...
