Came to Yellowstone from Indiana and transmission started acting up, sometimes starts in second other times won't shift from third to fourth. Limped back to Douglas and dropped the truck and camper off on Thursday, still haven't diagnosed the problem. Says could be a solenoid problem per the DRB and can't get it to duplicate the problem. Any suggestions?

Sounds like classic behavior when the governor pressure solenoid and / or governor pressure sensor start to go bad. The usual fix is to simply replace them both without bothering to try and figure out exactly which one is the culprit. They are super easy and fast to replace. Just drop the pan, remove the filter from the valve body, pop them out, and put the new ones in.

If your truck is at a Dodge dealer and they install Mopar branded parts, you'll probably pay an arm and a leg. You can can buy them for quite reasonable prices at Transmission Parts USA.

Good luck,

John L.
