2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 01 dash gages go on and off

i have a frend that has a 2001 auto 2500 4+4. he said that the gages all showed 0 for 2 restarts than all was ok. also all of the lights came on. i gess that he ment the warning lights because he said that thay went out when the gages started to work. im thinking that the conections at the back of the cluster are derty, fretting, but im not shore. any other help seggestions would be greatly apreciated. thanks john
