Having trouble with my 01. It starts and runs ok, but when I try to drive it has no power, the turbo won't work right. The transmission won't shift right it won't pull hills. I have only received 1 engine code P0122 for low voltage on the TPS. I've changed the TPS and now I'm having different problems where it won't get over 2000 RPM until it's warm or until I've stopped and restarted it. Sometimes I'll have to attempt to recalibrate the TPS by turning the key to run, pressing the pedal to the floor and letting it back up. Again sometimes it may take a combination of all to get it to be driveable. I did set the TPS when i put it in, but checked it days after installing it and can't get an accurate reading. I've been given a procedure to check the engine computer but need a reader that can give me realtime data and it hasn't come in yet. Figured I'd put this out and see if anyone may have some other ideas.

If no power and low RPM's is it possible you are having over boost trouble. Truck will derate if over boost. Check MAP sensor. On the other hand it possible that a boost boot is loose and you are not getting any boost.

What kind of boost are you getting? Before I got a boost fooler mine would derate at 19.5 and throw a code. I had a boost boot clamp come loose once and got no power.

Got my new real time reader and set it up to read boost, HP , and TPS. Getting a 0 on boost so I'm putting a gauge together to check for leaks. I'll post again when I get a minute to check it out.

So I finally had time to play with the truck again. Found the clamp holding the elbow on the bottom of the turbo came off. Repositioned the elbow and clamped it back up fixed the boost leak but very little change in how the truck runs. I have a new set of boots for the turbo and intercooler coming but I pretty sure it's not going to fix the problem. Truck has over 213,000 miles and the boots look old and cracked.

Does anybody know if you came probe the MAP sensor and get readings on a volt meter to determine if it's working correctly? Watched a video on line for someone reading a MAP on a gas engine and it makes sense. Thought about just replacing it but finding price variations from just under $75.00 to the dealer replacement of over $300 by the time you get it and the new wiring harness. Dealer also said the can run a diagnostic on it and tell me what's wrong but have had bad experiences with shops telling me one thing and later finding out it was something else completely.

I appreciate any advice.

Did you build a boost leak detector to find your leak? If the boots are dry rotted I'd definitely get em replaced, they will cause a low boost/no power condition like your experiencing without throwing any trouble code. Could even be other leaks. I waited too long to replace mine last year and the exact same boot your having problems with gave up the ghost in West Virginia with an 8k lb load. The lower clamp wouldn't hold any boost and kept blowing out under load. Finally got it to hold with a roll of electrical tape (the whole roll :D).

I did build a boost leak detector and after finding the clamp that popped off I did find a few other leaks which prompted me to order new boots. I did get the leaks to stop but I don't want to get stranded anywhere and it will eliminate it as the problem.

Update on my problem.

I went ahead and ordered a new MAP sensor from Geno's that came in yesterday. I wanted to have 1 before I started to play with it. Good thing I did when I went to pull the wire connector off the top of the old sensor and it came off in my hand! Put in the new sensor and it's pulling 15lps of boost and transmission and turbo are back to normal. Thanks everyone for the advise.
