I have an 01 ho245 truck 4x4 quad cab blah blah blah, long story short I developed an immediate severe tappet cover leak that lead to a slipping clutch I'm thinking rear main seal got dry then oil was added and the seal was already gone and doused clutch in oil? anyways I have another complete 01 so235 complete running truck. does anyone forsee any complications dropping the so235 (nv4500) engine into a ho/nv5600 truck? what ecm should be used? wiring harnesses the same? input shafts on transmission the same? what clutch? what flywheel? (I'm sad I just replaced my vp44 on the ho motor) any help would be greatly appreciated! donor truck (so235) has rear drums apparently that helps date it. I've extensively searched the forums for this swap scenario and couldnt find it.
also, any pcm speedo cluster qualms? Reading this and then moving along without commenting? Cash me ousside howbow dah?!?

I don't understand the drama. it sounds like a straight forword deal. Swap whatever is different from the old engine to the new. Since they are both '01s there couldn't be much, if any. The only difference in different HP 12 valves is the injectors and the injector pumps. I assume that is the same on over valved engines, so just swap them too.

Keep the electronics the same. When you have both motors out swap the injection pumps. Everything else pretty much the same. I would recommend the kdp (killerdowlpin) fix while your at it.

Sell the so pump and get some rv275 bosch injectors.

IIRC the 2nd gen stuff, you should be able to swap engines with no issues and use all the electronics from the target platform. The ECU's should be the same with the FPCM being the difference in controls on the pumps. The SO pump is probably a better choice for power upgrades anyway as it is not maxxed out like the HO pump, addition of injectors and a programmer will be easier on the SO VP-44 than the HO version. Add injectors or Smarty for a little more power, add both for fun times.

KDP should be history by the 01 models, think by early 2000 the open hole that cause the issues was replaced with a closed hole case.

Somewhere in the 99-2000 year, they dropped the crank sensor with the tone ring bolted internally to the crank.... they were bad to separate and caused problems.... anyway, if your target platform doesn't have it, behind the starter going into the block, IIRC, then there are no issues with the swap, just pull the HO engine, keep your injection pump, ECM, wire loom, starter, engine adapter, transmission, flywheel, etc, and put the SO engine in and bolt it up..... I'd keep the current ECM and wire loom if it's working, and has no problems. As for tappet cover leak, that's a fairly easy, albeit in-depth repair....
