On my 2001 I have 2400 miles on and it feels like the shocks are going. Washout and bumps, plus alot of front end bounce, well alot more. It feels like the stock ones arent strong enough for my diesel 3/4 4x4. Would the dealer do anything?

You can always try the dealer but the best he is going to do is give you new "stock shocks. " Usually, the manufacturers tend to give you the absolute minimum when it comes to shocks, batteries, and tires. I would suggest that you look into some good after market shocks. Umong the favorites seem to be the Bilstein or the Ranchos. I am a big fan of Bilstein, but due to my variable load, I will probably go for the adjustable Ranchos.

Yes, the stock shocks are horrible. I went with the Rancho 5000's, but I think I should have gone with the 9000's or the Bilsteins. The 5000s are just too stiff... loaded they are o. k. but empty in city provides a good use of the lumbar adjustment.

stock shocks are better than rancho's

Well thats what my dealer told me, what a crock of bull*^%&. When I took my truck in for allignment problems the service manager ask me why I down graded my stock shocks to Rancho's and that the stocks are the best out there thats why Dodge puts them on the truck. Typical 5 star dealer bull#^$%. Go with the Rancho 9000's you won't regret it. Good luck. If you want a set of awesome stock shocks I'll sell you some cheap. Later Dwayne. :D

The stock shocks are the best! I have 3,000 on mine and the still work good. I got over 5,000 out of my '98 stock shocks. All kidding aside, I liked my red Edelbrocks I had on my '98. However they do let the truck porpous over dips in the road and most of y'all don't care for that by the sounds of it. With the heavy duty suspension we have in these beasts and the weight of the axle and wheels, it takes a pretty stiff shock to control the jitters. Then you have dips in the road driving your spine into the back of your cranium. You'll have to find a happy medium.

The stock shocks on the 01 r the werst. I had a 99 with stock shocks and it was waayyyyyyy better.

On my 01 I went to the rancho 9000's and it made a HUGE difference in ride. It removed the bouncey feeling (dampner not able to control the weight of the spring).

After I took off the Stockers, I pushed and pulled them a bit & noticed alot of air movement in the shock, which of course would kill the dampner effect on the spring.

I found an online truck accessory place that sold me the 9000's for $54 each. I deemed that a pretty easy fix for my horrible ride. I can post the website if anyone is interested.
