I installed a new FASS DDRP lift pump in the stock position. I was able to start the truck with little problems, I started down the driveway for a test drive and hit the throttle, the engine started losing power and pouring white smoke out of the exhaust. I cut the truck off, and she would not crank back up. In my not so infinite wisdom, I checked power to my lift pump, there was none. so I straight wired a hot wire and ground to the lift pump. I left the factory lift pump wires disconnected . The truck still would not run. I got two codes 0123 and 1694. After researching and talking with Blue Chip Diesel, I checked pin 7 on injector pump wiring harness, no power. I changed the fuel relay, still no power. I installed a jumper wire to pin 7 and to the pos battery terminal. the truck fired up and idles great! The gas pedal will not work, the oil pressure gauge does not work. The truck idles with no problem. At this point I dont know what else to check? Has anyone ever had a bad ECM? ::

2001 Dodge, 4x4 auto, no modifications other than DDRP lift pump.

A bad ECM is possible. Odd that it happened right after installing the FASS.

I'd go back over everything you did during the install to make sure nothing got disconnected, or wire harness damaged.

Check your fuses in both the cab and the PDC.

Do you think leaving the original Lift pump wiring harness disconnected would cause this? Would the Lift pump be connected to the ECM In any way?

The ECM controls and powers the OEM transfer pump through the stock harness. I thought the FASS came with a relay kit for wiring in so the ECM signals the relay, and then power is sent to the FASS direct from the battery.

If you are trying to run the FASS straight out of the ECM and pulling 17 ADC, then you done let the smoke genie out. Would have thought it would have popped a fuse first.

STICKS
The DDRP uses the factory wiring setup, The 95gph pumps like ours is when FASS starts using the direct with relay.
CAPTPHIL

Originally I had the FASS DDRP plugged into the factory Lift pump connector. After initially starting the truck, I didnt think the FASS was running, so I disconnected the lift pump from the original connection and ran a 12Volt hot wire from the ignition to the FASS pump. The Westach fuel gauge is showing 20lbs of pressure. I checked the voltage at the lift pump, it showing around 4. 5 volts. I dont know if the ECM controls the lift pump.
