Engine building ideas?

Finished Finally!!!! Wow!!!!

I've been thinking for some time on swapping in a 12v engine into my 24v 2500. My truck is a 2002 HO with 6 speed, I'm looking for a 97-98 12v engine to swap in. what am I looking at getting myself into. My truck is pretty basic bare bones, no cruise, or anything power even got hand crank windows, vinyl flooring and upholstery, and manual lock doors if that tells ya about my options pack. I'm trying to get an idea of what type of complications I'm looking at before I jump in, I've searched on the post but couldn't find anything really relevant to what I'm wanting to know, most trucks as new as mine are pretty well optioned it seems, I'm just tired of dealing with computer this and vp44 that, not to mention having to get computer boxes and new software just to make the thing run better, I've got it set up pretty good right now with the 24v, just looking to make a more reliable truck and possibly save fuel during the off season of pulling with a simple detune of the p7100. Shoulda bought a 12v from the start, but found a 24v first and fell in love before I knew the headaches.

Just as a side note, have you checked to see if you have the dreaded "#53 block"?

That might be another reason to go to a 12v.

After a couple thousand miles, I'm really enjoying my 98, everything except the steering system. (L&R drift)

I'm shopping for up-grade stuff now.

Good Luck, Ray

no 53 here, i think mine is a 56 if i remember correctly, I am hoping it won't be overly complex to perform, thought about a p7100 on my 24v but thinking the 12v swap might be the ultimate ticket, easier to tune and far easier to find parts for if i'm on a long trip.
