I have a 2002 24V High Output Cummins. I have an Edge Comp (Drag Version) with tapped Injection Pump. I just currently had 2 codes a PO253 and P01693 set with the check engine light on. So of course I removed the Comp and the engine light went out. After scanning the computer the P1693 was a code set in JTEC Module and P0253 was Injection pump control Open Circuit I took it to the dealer and they told me they were bogus codes and only happened once. So they erased them and told me all is well. Could this be a problem with the metering valve in the injection pump or a possible wiring problem with my Edge Comp???

Welcome to the TDR :p Could be a problem with either one of them, VP or Edge. If you can stand it keep the edge off to eliminate it or remove it from the equation. If after a bit and no new problem re install and see if it comes back. A few edge products have been known to create a problem, but hey it sounds as thou they stand behind there product, so if you determine that it is the edge contact them for assistance.

I got the P0253 code when the ground for my Comp wasn't grounded good enough, I moved the ground to the battery and it has been fine ever since. If you ground to the intake horn you may be loosing your ground.

I contacted Edge today and they told me turn run the truck a few days without the box installed and see if the code comes back. . Then Reinstall the Comp and run it. They told if I continued to have the code to ship the comp back to them and they would send me a new one. The man on the other end of the phone from edge didn't hesitate when he said send it back and the would send me another. That's great customer assistance in my opinion. They really stand behind their product. .

When I reinstall my Comp back on my truck I will try that. I currently have it grounded on the intake manifold (could be my problem). I'm also going to try and put some dielctric grease on my stealth cover where it taps into the pump, thought maybe could be having a problem their too with maybe moisture getting trapped around it. . But I will give it a try. I hate to lose my comp for a few days cuz I like so soooooo much. . Thanks for the input...

I've been running my truck the last couple of days and I've thrown a few different scenarios at it. Such as no load full throttle, load full throttle, pulling mountains full throttle and so far no codes. Gonna throw my Comp back on tomorrow and see what happens...

Ok guys I've reinstalled my comp grounded it straight to the battery. However I did an inspection of where I tapped my pump and my screw that taps the pump internally had some rust spots on it giving me an indication of some moisture got into it. so I cleaned the terminal up and reinstalled. I ran my truck fairly hard today and so far all is good. No more recent codes. Hopefully that's all it was. Here within the next few days I'm going to put some dielectric grease on there to try to prevent corrosion. . Thanks for all the help!!!!!
