#@$%!#@$%!I'm on the road with 5th wheel in Greer S. C. and I suspect injector pump is going away. , Pulling R. V. and wide open throttle in 6th gear can't make more than 1150 - 1200 turbo temp and power seems to be off. From idle to start off in 1st gear engine will stall but starts back up. After coming down hills and starting up a hill the throttle will not dial in power (lags) but after 1 -2 seconds power dials back in slowly (boost at 20lbs) turbine temp rises slow. At 2100 RPM in 6th gear can't get more than 1100 temp and seems low power. Before filter pressure 15lbs and after filter pressure 12 lbs at wide open throttle. If I wasn't pulling the RV I probably wouldn't have noticed the decrease in performance. I have a bad feeling the Injector pump is weak. Is anybody in this area that can recommend a good shop? I'm headed for N. C. but don't want to attempt climbing the blue ridge with the degraded power. Need a helping hand. Gonna try the local dodge dealer on monday if I can't get other help

Not trying to be a smart ares here, but could the air filter be restricted? You are traveling and there may have been a mass of bugs you drove thru several times - it's worth a "check the air filter" to be sure anyway. Although, if this was the case your egts would be high as well, the charge cooler would be restricted too?

Not sure but may be a possibility - APPS could be acting whacky - try the ol, disconnect the batteries for 30 minus, then reconnect, key on slow depress go pedal to floor and slow return up, key off - then start as normal. Can't hurt - next time you stop for a bite to eat.

Thinking out loud here? You never know?

Good luck to you. Let us know what you end up with.

Don't automaticly suspect the IP. Like Joe MC said when stopped check the MAP and IAT sensors and clean if necessary. Check fuel filter to make sure it is not dirty, change if needed.

No idiot lights I suspect. Still might try the key trick and see if there are any saved codes.

Most likely the VP is toast. Sorry, can't help you with the name of any local shops. Did you post this on the "911 Help" forum? Might get more responses there.

Godspeed,
Trent

Thanks guys for your replies. Dealers never cease to amaze me. The dealer agrees with my suspicions about the pump going south (DUH). And they tried to sell me on removing my vulcan relocated lift pump and put the in tank mod in (at my expense) saying that it will solve injector pump failures (really?). I suggested they jam that idea where the sun don't shine and asked how did they think that my original injector pump lasted 97K miles (when they only go 50 - 60K usually) and how did my original lift pump still live for 97K miles and going strong. The service tech writer had no answers, so I respectfully suggested they leave my lift pump right where it is and replace the injector pump under warranty.
