I came out of the store tonight and started the truck. when it first started I had all gauges on the dash. After a few seconds everything quit and the ABS Check engine and air bag light came on, nothing else works. Fuel, oil, voltage, tach, speedo nothing. the only thing that I get where the odometer used to be is a no bus and on the overhead it says cpp or someting.

I drove the truck home and it seems to run fine, just no gauges. Any ideas? Truck is an 02 h. o.

Unbolt the ECM harness with 4mm allen socket. And clean the connector. . bolt it back up you should be fixed. I have had this problem alot here later.

Thanx Olee. The ecm is the one behind the injection pump right? Still kinda new to the 24 valve stuff. I am guessing I clean it with somekind of electronic cleaner?

I did the self check with the key and the trip reset button. Nothing. But, the odometer reads check, then 400, 420, 421 and then onto 999 I believe and then stays on 999. I also checked the fuses in the cab and none of them are bad.

Thanks man. I will check it out in the morning. We have been tailgating and at the Packer game all day and night. I am going to go start a fire and stand in it for a while!!!!:{

The truck I'm looking at right now has this problem ('02 3500 HO) and I've read a lot about it on here. The truck is two hours away and I'm a little worried about driving it with no gauges, but I know I can get it cheaper (and a lot quicker) if they don't fix it. let us know how you make out with this one.

O-kay. I cleaned the ECM connection and got the gauges and overhead working. Now I got a bunch of codes and the check engine and ABS light is on. The codes are 0500, 1694, 1693,1687,1698,and 1693(twice). I checked these and one is the speed sensor which is probably from spinning the tires on snow covered roads(I hope) the rest are no ccd messages received from ECM. do the other ones mean that the overhead wasn't receiving for a while? Any help would be appreciated.

BTW- Thanks for the idea Olee.
