Good Day All. My 02 is getting old and I'm thinking to get a new 06. What are your thoughts of the 06 dodge? It will be A 6spd 4:10 gears SLT.

I went from a '99 to an '06... . Just do it. The difference is night and day. The GPS has already paid off and the other extras are just NICE... I would do it again even considering the payment.

Fuel milage is not that great YET, only 4500 miles and I went to an automatic. Wouldn't change a thing. If you drive one it will all be over!!!

No 4. 10 gear available with the 6 speed manual. Only 3. 73 cause the NEW G56 has got a a lower o. d. 4. 10 is available with the auto trans only as of this time.

The new 6-speed (lower 6th gear) with the 3. 73's is the same as the NV5600 with 4. 10's.

Go for it. You'll be amazed at how smooth and quiet the new truck is. I drove a Megacab with the G56 and loved it. I would buy a new one if my '03 didn't have so much $$$ tied up in it.

the dealer is putting the 4:10s in for me. I work my 02 hard and I love the 4:10s. My 02 motor had a loud baning and it is getting old So the change would be Good? My 02 has over 689,000 km on it.

In my opinion you should stick with the 3. 73's. I think it would be like running your current 6 w/4. 10 in 5th gear all the time. Again, it's just my opinion.

I traded my 99 Club cab short bed for a one ton 4 door

Wish I had my 99 club cab short bed back. I got the 4 door long bed one ton dually and It sits IN the garage. It a pain to take shopping and to clean It what a job. Its black and that makes It worst to keep clean. It only has 7000 miles on It now. My brother put most of them on It. I though about trading It back In but have not check on how much difference. It paid for and that nice. My wife won't drive It because It standard 6 speed. She wants me to get a automatic? :-{}

I agree that, unless you tow REALLY heavy all the time, 3. 73's will be fine. I drove one and really liked it, but it seemed like it needed another gear at about 60mph. But I'm used to 3's with a 47RE and larger than stock tires, so my rpm's are low. Whatever you decide, enjoy it! They look to be nice trucks.

I'm one of those guys that prefers to have something that's been out a while so that the bugs are worked out, or at least the issues with it are KNOWN.

The devil you know vs, the devil you don't, so to speak.

I drive an 02 and like it. I've driven 3rd gens pretty often (testing them out), and they are VERY impressive.

Then I get back into my old truck in it feels like home-- it just feels "proper".

So, VPs and LPs, warts and all, I like my 02.

Go for it... '06 was night and day difference from my '04 just on the sound deadening alone.

The interior takes some getting used to as I'm not fond of the light grey or woodgrain, but kits will be out soon enough to take care of half of that. :)

the reason for the 4:10s is that I'm always pulling heavy and it will be a full blown work truck. You could say a work truck with style?

You can go to LOW with a diesel. I think 4:10 with the G56 maybe a miserable daily driver. Its gonna be screamin and it does need time to wind up for proper turbo operation etc. The G56 rpm's(3. 73) is the same as a NV5600 with 4:10s. Unless used for yard work pulling heavy loads in a closed in area like a tractor.

With a G56 and 4. 10's, I guess your max speed would be in the eighties. You'd be at about 2500-2600 at 70mph. Waaaay to high if you ask me.

Now, if you're going to lift the truck to the moon and run 40" tires, then you'll be set.

well the 4:10 are for pulling heavy. My 02 is pulling daily around 16,000 to 22,000 lbs thats why I wanted the 4:10s But i think for a daily driver it is to high. So what do you all think of the 06 rams?

Just picked ours up today. It is a 48re 3. 73. It turns 2000 at 70 just like my 98, but will run over 75 in drive if you need that much power. I have driven a 2000 SO 47re over 100K. It is a nice truck but never stirred the blood like my 98 with #6 plate. Then 06 changes all that. Drives like a huge sports car! I'll have to get used to the quiet though!

Well in Canada we are only allowed to drive 60mph or 110 km/h so for me it is no big deal if I con not go 75mph. thats why i like the 4:10s.

60 MPH = 96Km/h

I tow at 65MPH = 105KPH. That is 1800RPM with my truck and at that rpm I have over 900FT/LBS of torque! That is over 300 HP and not many hills can slow me down!
