Normal order cutoff is very early May. With an extended shutdown for model changeover, however, it could come earlier. Might check with your dealer's Fleet Manager - they typically have order cutoff data from DC (mine did when I dropped in to see him a couple of weeks ago to shoot the bull, but I forgot what he told me regarding 2002 order cutoff dates. )

I was told by a salesman at Dave Smith Motors the cut-off for 2002 orders is "around" the end of April. You might want to put an order in around the first part of April just to be safe. I was told the 7/100,000 drivetrain warranty promo ends March 31, as does the $1500 rebate and "special" financing incentives. One salesman said it would take 5 weeks for delivery, and another said 6-8 weeks. Hope this helps.

Order it this month!!!

Heck, I was going to wait till End of Feb. Changed my mind and went with Jan. I was also wondering about the cutoff date... so I avoided it all togeather. :)

In my Sig is how long I've been waiting... called Wednesday 13th... Yes, it has an estimated ship date of March 14th... looking a bit further for status - "it's a Gateline schedule which means it could be built today or tomorrow" - My head started looking at what this guy just said... ship the 14th, be built on the 13th or 14th... how can it have estimated ship date???

Oh well, either way... 6 weeks and counting - I have at least another 2 weeks if not 3 or 4 weeks.

OK - I couldn't stand it... I've been calling each week to get a status of it. Called today and it has been completed!!! . Oo. A status of "J - built ok'd" - no new ship date, so either they don't update the computer often or they build them fast.

Take a look at http://dodgeram.org/buying_info/Order_status.htm to get the dirt on status code

Thanks guys. Actually went to the dealer yesterday to look at what they had and decided to ask a salesmen about the cutoff date and he said he thought the end of May. I better make up my mind quick it seems - not sure if I wanna get the new version or a 02.

Well you can always wait until the 2003's go into production and make a side by side comparison. Problem is if you don't like the 2003, then you'll have to settle for a lot truck and hope you can locate one to your liking. Up-swing is there should be some good year-end close-out deals/rebates for the 2002's.

Oh decisions, decisions on what to do, I was there until all the talk about the "quiet" Cummins in 2003, then the decision making got a WHOLE lot easier... ..... My order will be placed before the 2002 cut-off date! (plus I don't feel like paying DC to be a test rat for the first year or two production models of the "next generation" RAMS. The current trucks are proven and DC has had enough time to work-out most of the flaws. For 2003, the "learning curve" starts over again).

Pulled the trigger ordered today

I went to Carson Dodge in Carson City, NV this morning to see the colors up close. Decided on Two-tone Atlantic Blue / Silver 2500 4X4 SLT Quad Cab. with the 6 speed H. O. 241 H. D. Transfer Case, Travel Convenience Group, Power Seat, Camper Group, Anti-spin 3. 55 rear Axle, Trailer tow group, Fog lamps and Air Dam. Decided against the CD Radio prefer to get a MP3 compatible stereo that is XM Sat. ready for those long stretches of highway without radio reception. Factory upped the rebate to $2000 monday and that is what I was hoping for. Now the wait begins. My salesman said that every Monday he will call me with a update. Can Hardly wait!!!

Don't know if it's important to you or not, but I found in order to get the upgraded infinity speaker system (6 spk) with the tweeters in the A-pillar you have to buy the upgraded radio (either cd or cd/cassette) for a rip-off price. All I wanted was the premium speaker system with the tweeters in the A-pillars and had to pay an extra $450 for them and a crappy factory cd player I will be replacing with an aftermarket unit anyway. Back in '95 I was able to just order the upgraded speaker system and stay with the plain am/fm cassette. I notice fewer single options are available now, seems everything is in groups or packages, so if you only want one thing you end up paying a lot for it becasue you have to purchase the whole group.

Thanks 1tuffram for the feedback, Yes I did notice that with the 6 speaker you get the pillar mounted tweeters. Was not sure if they would interfere with pillar mounted gauges so I decided that I could find a place for my own tweeters later.

Thanks, Dennis

they make the A-pillar guage mounts with the tweeter location built-in. So there should be no problem interference problems with the guages. You might want to check out genos garage or other vendors, should be able to find a picture of one. Other guys have posted pictures of thier 2 or 3 guage A-pillar mount with the tweeter built-in. I understand the 3 guage A-pillar mounts with the built-in tweeter location are hard to find now days, on back order from most vendors.
