Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 02 PCM needs replacement

I had a thread about codes set and PCM diagnosed as bad by a dealer. They want $ 750 for the part only, than labor on top of that. I got the truck back now and I'll try to find it myself and install it. Supposedly if I got it myself it would not come "flashed" and ready to go. Will I be facing this? I thought I should be able to just swap those myself and be done with it.

So, still looking for replacement, looks like Olee Poole will be able to get me one, so I hope it can work. Your answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ilian
