02 ram 1500 4.7 4x4

My father in law has an 02 ram 1500 that he is trying to sell and I am going through and fixing up for the sale. It is a 4x4 with a 4. 7 liter engine, 4 door, short bed. Not to bad shape, but still not my cup of tea. MY question is;



WHAT IS THE BIGGEST TIRE TO FIT ON THE 17 INCH RIMS WITH SMALL AMOUNT OF RUB?

I would think you could fit 285/70's with minor rubbing (if any) up front.

I just sold my 96 ram 1500 with 285/75/16 inch tires on it and they rubbed a very small amount. I was not sure if the 285/70/17 would fit this 1500. I have driven it a lot and fixed a few things, but I am still SECOND GEN all the way. I thought driving this truck around may switch me to the 03 and up. I would not get into 3rd gen, as they are not my thing! Thanks Wmonroe for the post!! I need feed back of a person who has had tires installed before I make the purchase.
