thanks to you guys for the thread about bad ball joints. i checked mine (using my 8ft prybar under the tire and jack on axle) the knuckle on both sides had >1/4" slop!and all are shot this really was shocking because i baby the truck, no death wobble and it goes straight. . dealer won't have new parts for a week. at least it's a new part number so hopefully these are better!

Mike, can you get us a little more info on that part number? I called my Dodge parts guy and he ran my 03 VIN# and confirmed what came on it and what the replacement is to be the same number??

I started checking mine at 20K after reading the post about the bad ball joints, they were good then. So at each 5K oil change I'm checking them, 22K miles on the clock now, probally once a week the closer I get to the 3yr/36K LOL. Mike, my truck like yours seems straight as a arrow without the death wobble also. An ditto on the better ball joints, keep our fingers crossed.

as soon as i get a ball joint number i'll pass it on. they had to order a new 6cd radio too it will go zap zap zap about 20% of the time after cranking. after turning radio off and on again it'll work, but this is the second radio that does this. i really don't want to put any more miles on it because if the replacements are crap too, i don't want to have to eat them when out of warranty. i have had TONS of problems with this truck. poor thin paint ,oil leaks, makes me wonder why i like the truck?!?!

the ball joint numbers for my 3500 4x4 are: 508 6672 ab , 508 6674 ab

my virginia dealer said it will be weeks before the arrive.

hope this helps.

Sorry to hear about all of the ball joint problems, guys. I'm wondering if this problem is limited to the 4wd 3rd Gens, or are the 2wd ball joints also prone to early failure?
