the engine will start on ether & run fine otherwise it justs cranks & will only start occassionaly. have replaced lift pump & fuel filter. truck has 125,000 miles on it any ideas would be appreciated stewalt2002
Check for codes , some yrs this does not work , but does for most yrs , turn to on pos. [ not start ] 3 times , leaving it in the on pos the 3rd time , dash will give codes .
Its most likely gonna be that you have one if not more injectors sticking open, that was one way for us to tell if this was happening by shooting some ether into the intake, the pressure isn't building enough and the engine isn't spinning fast enough for the fuel to fire.
Check every connection between the fuel tank and the lift pump. This is the suction side of the pump and may or may not actually drip - but a bad connection (common at the connection to the fuel sending unit canister) will have your pump sucking air and/or pumping foam.
