Archived '03 4x4 front shock lower bolt

Got the top of the shock off but the nut turns when I trying to take the lower bolt out. Any idea on how to get in there to hold that nut or cut it off?? Help!

I'm guessing it's caged inside a bracket? If it's real snug in there (can't fit a wrench) and you can at least see it, jam a flat head screwdriver (preferably with a square or hex shaped shaft) between the flats of the nut and the side of the bracket - on the side that will try to pull the screwdriver in deeper as you loosen the nut.

There should be a flag on the bolt head but it sounds like it's broke off. If your replacing the shock with a new one, put some heat on the nut and hit it with an impact right away while trying to jam somethinsomething on the back side like Sticks mentioned.

I put Bilsteins in a long time ago. Yes there are flags on the nut. I worry about the next time I have to go in.

Torch it off an put a real nut in there oyu can get a wrench on. If it is spinning inside the cage there is nothing to do but torch it out.
