OK! guy's give some response! When I bought my truck around the first 2500 miles I had to check the air filter out. The manual says depend on the filter minder to let you know when to change it out for a new one. OK ever since it was new it has showed about a 35% restriction on the filter minder. So at 2500 miles off come's the cover and I look at it. clean as can be on top side, clean inside the tube. Bottom side one small area very lite sooty place. At 8800 miles off comes the cover, top still clean, tube clean, bottom side maybe 80% to 90% blackened sooty oilly residue. Filter minder still showing around 35% restriction. Checked out another 03 with the H. O. bought in 3/03 his with 9500 miles on it when we looked at the filter, same story blackened sooty oilly residue on bottom side of the filter. His filter minder reading 0% restriction. My truck has alway's ran great just concerned do I need to go ahead and change the filter or what. I have been told that it is still going through it's breakin period and that is normal. I have reset the filter minder each time I checked out the filter (twice). It now just turned over 10,000 miles.

They had some problems with some of the filter minders. Mine was one of them. They replaced it and it stays on 0 now.

My Filter minder was at 35% from day one! After about 4-5k Miles it was getting up to 80%, so I replaced (And it was Dirty). The next time around I installed an AFE Pro-Guard 7 Intake, my filter minder still reads 35%, but only if I Give Her the GEARS. The OEM would read 60+% if I was honk'n on it when the filter was brand new!

The other point was I read somewhere about the original filter minders where not reading correctly. My minder has a part # that ends with "AA," the "AB's" are the replacement ones and read more accurately (so I've been told).
