Hey guys I think my back-up switch on my transmission (NV5600 6spd. ) for the reverse lights is getting ready to bite the dust, the lights work intermittently and I can get them to work if I fiddle with the shifter. So my next question is how much is the switch and what tools and procedures are involved in the switch replacement. I have the 100,000 mile warranty with $100 deductible and I'm just trying to figure out if it is more cost effective for me to do it rather than lose my truck for a day. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I think mine has gone bad also, but I will replace the switch myself. NO need to pay someone to do it, as it should be fairly easy. I'm sure mine is bad, as the BU lights did like yours did, now they don't work at all.

Does anyone know what tools are required to change the switchand if any fluid will leak out if changed?

As said above about 30-45 seconds. Open end wrench. No fluid comes out, assuming a relatively level surface. I think I paid ~ $70 for a switch from the dealer.

Just unplug the wiring harness, unscrew the old switch, screw in the new one, tighten, plug in harness, viola!! Working back-up lights.

Hope this helps.
