03 BOMB, ETH or ETC

Any reason to spend the extra for the ETH? I'm itching to get a 03. I might not be able to wait much longer, I think I remember how to shift the 5 speed.



Would the locker fit out of a Chevy, G80? My GMC has an open diff, and I'm fixen to get a locker, but it sure would be nice to be able to take it with me when I trade.



Nothing like a Cummins. I really like my truck, great power, loads of fun, it's just not a Cummins.

See my post on hill climbing. My '03 HO and friends Duramax pretty well match up equally on the hill climb. The Allsion is a superior auto, but I like my six speed. Seems like I always have a good gear to reach for.



When the Edge for the '03 become available it will be a Duramax killer. Meantime I'm happy to run alongside my friend. How can you be unhappy pulling 14K over the big mountains at 55 MPH?

I wish I used my truck for pulling, the most I've pulled with it so far was a small 6,000# trailer with gravel in it. The work I do, I could easily get by with a 1/2 ton. But I love diesel power and I bomb to race at the drag strip or stop light, and I like shifting my own gears. Not too sure my truck would be any slower with a stick.



From what I've heard that others have dynoed, I'm right around 360 to 370 rwhp. With my old Dodge I was at 385rwhp and 899. 8 torque, and with a 5 speed stick I could run 14. 26. So I want a 5 speed with a 400rwhp with just a plug in box, am I expecting too much?

Peter,

I would get the HO engine.

As you know it has a higher stock hp rating and directionalized cooling and lubricating of the pistons.



The non HO has the traditional piston cooling nozzles.



In the olden ISB days the HO meant that you had a different fuel pump that didnt respond as well to fueling boxes.

But these days the fueling system is the same on both engines, just programming/calibration differences.
