I took the banjo bolt out and blocked the return line and let truck idle.

Fuel slowly fills relif then spills over is this normal?

Also boost sensor reads 15 psi with key on engine off is this normal?

i think cummins spec is anything over like 6oz is bad, check it out w/a measureing glass in ML and OZ's. as for the boost to me it dont sound right. good luck :D

Thanks for the info.

as for the boost sensor if i unplug it it goes to 0 boost and 0 volts.

when its pluged in it reads 15psi and 1. 2 volts

it is not a boost sensor it is a map sensor you are seeing atmospheric pressure, the boost will be added on top of that :D

A new relief valve should not leak. Miller special tool 9013 is used to check the flow from the valve. If the new valve leaks, it is bad. The valves are ruined most times by excessive rail pressure. They are not designed blow off all the time.

How hard is it to replace the valve? Do you just un-bolt the old rail and bolt on a new one? Any special tools needed, gaskets, etc. ?

I believe I read, either here or on the DTR that someone tried a relief valve for the "Marine Engine". The thought was that it was designed for frequent use, I believe.

Anyone heard of this?

I have bought a marine valve. I haven't had it to the dealer to hook it up and see how it does. By the seat of my pants, I think it is working like the original. I am working on just blocking it off. Lee.

is blocking it off a safe thing to do, i would be scared of blowing the tips off of the injectors.....

With out any of the pressure boxes, it should be liveable. Going to be getting the cp3 enhanced, injectors, and a cam soon. Tax return hurry up!!! Lee.
