Archived 03 Cracked injector fuel supply lines

Hello



2 of the 6 injector fuel supply lines have broken on my truck, so I think I should replace all 6.



Both the local Dodge dealer and the Cummins part center are saying there the ones I need are back ordered and one has to be ordered from Singapore. The dealer is saying it might be down for 3 weeks but they are trying to find the lines... :{



is there another way to get these custom lines?

I have, in the past, brazed them back together on Caterpillar engines. If it is not right at the nut, you probably could do the same on your lines.

I would check out our advertiisers that deal in injection pumps and injectors I would bet they would have fuel lines.

it will not do any good to replace them at this time. they are making the new ones out of different metal but very few are available on the 03 i believe most failures are the #4 and #5 injectors all cp3's have #4 problems especially the 06's if the isolator is loose on the line it will greatly expedite the failure. the brazing of the lines are holding up very well try calling 410-742-0400 i think they have them in stock. this company and cummins is about one third the price of chrysler

No luck, one place carried just the number 4 line.

Another local shop said no one makes the steel lines, they always just go to the OEM.



The Cummins part center had said they they had had a huge run on these including the dodge dealers and to insure that all the braces, clips etc are on.



In this day and age it is a surprise to me that I will have to wait so long for parts...

that brace he is talking about is what is called an isolator it takes a 10 mm wrench to tighten it. it is the blue clamp mounted on the intake manifold. the new ones have a torque screw in them. wich line are you needing. and remember many of us have brazed the line to get by until we could get one in. i keep the brazed ones in the shop for spare after installing new one.

Sadly I am stuck ... I took the truck to the dealer figuring it would be fast and they had the parts. I also had assumed it looked like the transmission lines on a quick scan of where the fuild was coming from.

The dealer is not going to braze the lines.

It now reduced down to a waiting game for the parts to be build and air shipped to Cummins and then to the dodge dealer.

I will get the old failed lines back and get them fixed to have for spare parts

the line only cost $22 not worth the wait. take a 19 mm and 10 mm wrench over to the dealer and take the line off and get it brazed then order one from cummins, when the new one gets in just change it out it only takes about three minutes. i keep forgetting most people do not have the tools i do . when the first one broke i was only a hundred miles from my shop and two miles from a town i had them bring a torch and rod to me while i walked to town and ate some lunch two hours and fifteen minutes later i was on my way
