I just drove my new HO/48RE home tonight. So far it seems like it has a lot of pep and the shift schedule seems just about right. The upshifts are crisp and well timed to the torque curve as near as I can tell. It only has 47 miles on it and 17 were on it when it came off the transport so 30 miles total ain't gonna tell you a whole lot. It was pretty chilly so the bun warmers were most appreciated.

I'll post more info/mileage etc. as I begin to accumulate the miles. The real test will be in the spring when I hook up the ol' RV and head for the hills!

Cheers!

Mike

wait until you start bombing with the edge comp that is coming out and you will be glad you did not get the auto. it seems that just adding a chip to these trucks get them to 375hp range. :--)

Keep the performance/driving impression reports coming on the 48RE. Some of us are left waiting for delivery... Got to get our fix somewhere. Congratulations!:D

Got Mine Today

Just took delivery of my truck today. Initial impression of the 48RE is that it is much smoother with a more "positive" shift feel. It is hard to explain but it just feels more solid than the 47RE. If you ordered one I think you'll be happy. We'll see how it holds up during towing.

I drove 45 miles from the dealer to my office on I-40 at 75 mph into a 15 mph head wind and the trip computer shows 17. 9 mpg. I know its not very accurate and I'll measure when I fill up next. Also doing 75 with the 3. 73 the RPM's were 2100.

They did away with the user setup features on the trip computer for various truck options that my 02 1500 had, I was disappointed with that.

On another note I had the Mopar Kodiak steps installed and I am extremely pleased with them. Look great and feel sturdy. I also installed the Mopar brushed aluminum fuel door and am really happy with how it looks, although some might not like it. I'll try to figure out how to post pictures tonight.

Hey Steve G,

That didn't take long!! :D

Bring your new HO/48RE to the next BDDDC meeting on Feb 8th so we can look at it. :) Call in sick!! ;)

Bill,

I hope to get it next week. Was told it left Laredo the 24th and yesterday they said that it was in KZT status. (Second Rail Departure) If I get it you can be sure I'll drop by. The hard part is going to be keeping my eye on James N. If I turn my head he'll have that transmission taken apart checking:D

Hey, you'd better watch me too!! Y'all go in for breakfast and leave James and me out there to "guard" your truck!! He might need some help with the transfer case hanging on the rear of the transmission. :D

Seriously, I will want to know how your new HO/48RE compares/performs to your "enhanced" '00 3500 with the DTT transmission setup.

Bill,

Something tells me that I will be sending DTT more money in the future. I don't think DC could ever put out anything that will compare to DTT.

New Ram 3500 SRW 4X4 Laramie

Just checked with Union Pacific and my truck should be here in Kent , Wa on the 9th of March at 1630. I checked the official build date and it just happened to be on my birthday (26 Feb) hope that is a good ohm-an. I have been real impressed with DC. Ordered the Truck on the 10th Feb. Four weeks from order to delivery is not to bad.

Now I have to sell my 97 Ram 2500 4X4 5. 9 D. Oo.
