Today the lift pump went out on my '03 at ~168k mi. Dealer here in Joplin (where the deed occured) has had no luck getting the part- says of the 10 dealers called none would let theirs go (2 had sold the today and at least 22 more had ordered them for a customer). Time ran out on the remaining 6? dealers due to time of day. Part is a B/O at DC- unknown delivery time.

? would I be better off going with an aftermarket unit (I put 162k on the truck in '04, and anticipate similar milage this year) or does anyone know of a good replacement that is readily available? Considering my problems, I don't expect any of the other dealers that list the part in stock to be willing to sell theirs out of store. Suggestions and help solicited. -Eric

Diesel Dynamics make a pusher pump kit that's had no problems I've heard of. There also may be a Fass or Airdog dealer closer to you, if you want to spend that much money.

Update & Thanks

Thanks to all who had input on my problem. We have a take out pump coming (Thanks Thomas!) and are looking into Diesel Dynamics Big Fuel Line Kit to prevent a recurrence ( thanks for the tip Scott). We tried the local Cummins outlet, and they reported the same backorder problem that the dealer ran into with D/C. (We did not do an "In Stock" search with Cummins like we did with D/C). All in all, we should be back in the road before the week end (not as good a turn around as parts in stock, but with the help of the good folks that support TDR, the problem has been beaten into submission).

Again, THANK YOU to all of you who replied. -Eric
