Hey fellas, Tim1 here from over in the first gen section. I just got a 03 Ho 6speed long box 4x4. It has a Banks 6 gun module and Banks monster exhaust with a jake. I ordered a full fass today, do I need a fuel pressure guage? It has a boost and egt guage. How do I tell if the injectors are going bad, any warning. It has no issues now, and has 109k miles on her. I need 4 doors or would not let my 12 valve go. Any advise would be nice as I am reading all my back issues and reading post all I can. Thanks I have to remember how to put my sig on the bottom.

Welcome to the 3rd Gens these are some trucks. I don't use a in cab fuel pressure gauge with my GDP fuel system, have one under the hood and runs at 16 psi. Don't really see the need for it in the cab. If the injector start to go bad, you will see hard starts/ long cranking starts engine cold or hot.

fuel guage under hood

Thank you for your reply, is this guage just a mechanical pressure guage monitoring the pressure to the cp3 from the fass? Thanks Tim

Right, BP is talking about monitoring the fuel pressure entering the CP-3. Even with a FASS it's probably worth it.

Injectors will usually let you know when they're going bad like BP says. Be careful running high EGTs... good way to lose a valve seat (with subsequent carnage).

I have a similar truck to you. Check my signature for my mods. They seem to serve me well. I don't worry about fuel quality or pressure with the FASS on my truck. Low fuel pressure won't cause premature failure of the cp3 pump like it did to the VP pumps. You will get lower power and possibly a non start. Order the 3 micron filter for the fass as per Joe D's recommendation.
