i want to know if there is a way to upgrade a non HO to an HO spec computer etc... . ????? and is there anything else different from non to ho's like transmission etc. .

The ETC (standard output) engine in 03 has all the same hardware with the exception of gallery cooled pistons. The power diffrence is in the ECM programming. There is no way to directly upgrade one however there are numerous fueling boxes that can be added to an ETC that will yield as much or more power than the ETH's (HO's) produce in stock form. The new "downloader" suchas the Bullydog that Tomeygun mentioned above is similar to adding the box however the program is flashed straight into your ECM so there is no additional hardware on the truck.

so lets say the truck already has water damage and the ecm will probably be replaced anyways... can i put an HO ecm on it , and the motor may need to be gone into so should the pistons be upgraded as well????

I can't say for sure. I assume if the whole ECM were to be replaced they could be swapped. Just a guess. As for the pistons, it's a little more complicated. There are also pressurized oil squirters that spray the bottom of the pistons with oil so they would have to be added as well as whatever it takes to get oil to them. I would just forget about that alltogether. In fact, I would just return it to stock form and add a box but that's just my $. 02
