Just wanted to get an idea of what everybody's oil pressure is like. Warm at idle mine is about 25 lbs. At about 1500 RPM its about 35 lbs. and at about 2000 RPM its about 40 lbs.

Is this the norm?

yep... thats about right... . a little MBZ influence there... as long as it moves on tip in of throttle all is well!!... MBZ for years SHOW low oil pressure on the gauge until you gas(diesel) it... .

The oil guage is not registering actual pressure. It is a virtual

guage which is manipulated by the engine's ECM to read what the operator is "expected" to see. It's as good or useless as an idiot light.

dan. poitras is 100% correct.

The oil pressure "switch" turns on above 4psi.

so it is only a guarantee of higher than 4psi oil pressure.

The idea was to eliminate the normal fluctuation when the rpm goes from idle to WOT.

People were going to the dealer because of the swing of the oil guage... I didn't say SMART people ;)
