This is my 2nd CTD,1st being a 93'. My new truck has 2 vibrations, 1) when taking off from a stand still, its seems somewhere in the drivetrain when I hit the gas pedal, more so when I am making a turn. It feels like slippage in the transmission or rearend?

2) this is either in the exhaust or transmission. . when the truck shifts from 3rd gear into overdrive there is a vibration right under the front seat more toward the tranfer case shift.

I hope I posted this in the right area? If not let me know.

BTW what a great site! Been reading it for weeks now and I think I caught some kinda fever??

Good thing I can still obtain a second mortgage because I think I am going to need one :D

The acceleration condition sounds like the limited slip rearend. These new trucks have very tight lsd and in the few first thousand miles you really notice it. As far as the other vibration this seems to also be normal. I have noticed mine does it under moderate acceleration and when it makes the shift to O. D theres a vibration. Their was a post somewhere on this recently and some said it has to do with driveshaft rpm's. Do a search I saw this post in the third gen forum within the last week or so.

The vibration of shifting from 3rd to OD is actually the transmission locking the torque converter in OD. And I am pretty sure it is the exhaust pipe rattling. The transmission dragging down the big cummins to 1300 or so RPM can cause some pretty good vibrations. I wouldn't worry about it though, I've learned to let off a little when it shifts. . Or just accellerate a lot harder so it's at a higher RPM when it shifts. :D

I appreciate the help on this.

I do notice that it really only happens (3rd to OD) when I am at a lower rate of speed (45+/-) going into overdrive. It sounds almost like human rearend sounds?? However I am sure its on the normal side of things.

The rearend sound, I decided to do some figure 8's in a large parking lot to work the limited slip clutches, seemed to help?

Again, thanks for the replys!:D
