I think I finally won this war. My PCV oil seperator thing has leaked since I bought the truck new in 02. The dealer and I tried several things but nothing worked until now.
Here's what we tried:
Dealer: installed common hose clamps.
Me: Replaced O-ring (it wasn't the problem)
Permatexed connections. (Soon broke down and failed)
Installed special hose clamps for silicone hose.
Replaced oil-saturated draft tube. (Still leaked but used some of the old parts to extend it down lower so eng and diff stay clean)
Installed plastic, continuous clamps (odd thing happened here, ALL oil vapor leaked out onto valve cover. Draft tube stayed clean)
Replaced PCV assembly - FIXED!!!
At this point I'm not sure if the PCV box had some kind of problem like a crack (couldn't find one) or if it was a combination of the new PCV and better clamps - which I feel is most likely.
My rocker cover stays perfectly clean now and only took 10 years to fix.
Here;s a pic of the clamps. I ordered them on-line but any HW store that carries Hillman fasteners may have them.

Ever wonder what exactly is in the PCV box? The answer is not much. There's a piece of Scotch-Brite like material that's about . 150 thick and a high (draft tube) and low (drain) outlets so the actual oil goes back to the eng behind the CP3 somehow (don't know know) and then the bigger draft tube connection is higher so only vapor comes out (I guess). It's clear after opening it up that there's no reason to ever replace it maint. wise.
