03 ran against 04.5

Buddie of mine just bought an 04. 5 600 auto about 3 weeks ago we ran against each other about 11 times tonight and it don't matter were we went from he had no chance I Had at least 2 to 3 truck lengths on him every time mine is an 03 ext cab 6 speed and his 04. 5 600 ext cab auto and mine has the big new western hauler steel bed that slowed me down a lot but I love it

You're 03 six speed with steel flatbed beat an auto 600 by 3 lengths repeatedly? Do you have a box on? That doesn't seem right.

If both trucks are stock then either your buddy can't drive or something is seriously wrong with his truck. Pick one. or both.

More info such as gearing/boxes/bombs etc. Did you two try SWAPPING trcks on a run?Just curious.

New trucks are really stiff. I suspect that if you dyno'd a new truck and then did the same one again after 10,000 miles, you'd see more than the 20 HP difference between the 305 and the 325. I'm still impressed that you could out run him with a 6 speed though. I can't shift mine fast enough to out run a Kia off the line.

Both ext cab 3:73 gears his auto mine six speed I just went over there this morning and it is realy a 600 it has the cat mine all stock and so is his he bought this as a work truck so he would not have to pay the extra cash for a ford. He does however have on 04 ford 4 door ranch hand bumbers all the way around and a little lift with an auto an with the ford stock me and him are dead even I have never seen a race so close even at the 1/8th mile track we were both between 10. 8 to 11. 0 all night

If you both had auto's I wouldn't be surprised with the results, but like Ken, I can't get my 6'er moving fast enough to beat much! Thier isn't that much power difference between the HO and the 600 and like others have said, the 600 is still new and tight. I'd expect it to do better with a few miles on it.

You must be a gear shifting God!!! From a standstill to beat the auto is amazing. Now if you were cruising along at35- 40 or so mph then started the race, sure our 6 speeds are great.

We recently had a Dyno day in So. Calif. , the stock 03' 305 HP's were dynoing higher than the stock 04. 5' 325 HP's..... maybe it's just the break in, but I think it has something to do with making the new ones 50 state smog legal, the 305's don't have Cats and the 325's do... .

LOL-I have told people I can drive it smooth or fast but not both-a Mustang GT with a Borg Warner T-5 it ain't.

we swaped trucks today with me dirving the auto and him driving the stick I jumped him about 2 car leagths the whole way hes not to good with the stick though I can shift pretty well I belive every my buddie has an 02 with comp and injecters he could not do no better in the 1/8 th mile then a 10. 2 I mannaged a 9. 6 out of it

LOL - Same here, so I quit trying. I just love shifting this thing though, and I can't wait to tow with it. I can feel the boost at about 1600 rpm and it starts taking off real good, but oh, it's time to shift again. LOL 5th and 6th gears rock, though.
