03 Seating Options?

What does the premium seating option add? Is it just the split back bench and front middle underseat storage? I looked in the windows of one truck with and one truck without, and couldn't tell the difference. It looked like the same cloth to me.



I tried to get a brochure at the local dealer today to answer some of these questions, and the sales guy told me all of the brochures had been recalled due to a misprint. Uh huh.

I think that's about it, Once you have the premium seat, you can add a power drivers seat too.

Premium cloth actually includes the power driver's seat. . I was pleasantly surprised. Also the mentioned front seat storage, split rear, and then you can also get the option of the flat rear load floor.

The flat fold rear floor is a great improvement if you can get it, in my opinion, use it all the time.

Absolutely, I do too. It's great for carrying luggage and packages. It's the largest reason I went for the premium seat option.

The cloth seat option for the ST is about $100 or so and is a flat-surfaced cloth, not the fuzzy-surfaced premium cloth. Actually I'd like the flat finish better, but unfortunately this seat does not have the center seat storage pods. The premium cloth seat has storage in both the bottom and the back of the center part.



Some of us prefer manual windows and locks for reliability, but that means getting the ST and you can't get the storage pods. My main gripe with the 2003 is that DC engineered out the storage cubbies and places to put gauges, etc. Look under the rear seat of the Quad Cab--looks like a lot less room than the 2nd gen, even though it is walled in for you to keep the stuff in place. I use folded-over carpet in my 97 to keep the stuff in place.

I have to agree with Joe as to the lack of storage space under the rear seats of the G3's, however, if you get the storage space under the middle front seat it more than makes up for it. I got the Premium Leather seating in the Laramie and one thing that I would like to throw into this discussion is the heated option that is only available with the leather. I never had the heated seats before but it's December here in New England and I love them. It takes a while for the engine to start to throw the heat, but the seats are warm right away and for my old bones that made the option worth it.

Watch out Joe, I think you're looking a little too close at these 03's... . before you know it you'll be driving a 24 valve. I'll bet ol' sickly is already starting to get jealous! That's not the way to treat an old loyal 12 valve is it?
