Hi folks,

I've been out of the group for some time, so forgive me if these questions are redundant...

:( I've test drove three '03's since they hit the lot the other day. I'm very dissappointed in the comfort of the cab. The door post has been moved up, cab bent down at top of windshield (which I hope helps whistling at 80mph!) so that a tall guy like me can hardly conform himself to get in it. Is it a felony for a truck mfr. to build a "big enough" back seat?? This one just barely gets by. (I should have had my 96 converted back then) The dash is also pretty plain in design, and they still (other than that cubby hole) don't allow room for a two way or other radio, trailer brake module, or anything else without it being in the way. Also, the seats are redesigned to have a headrest protruding right against my collarbone (I'm 6'4", could be worse) and as I'm broadshouldered, my arm is against that forwarded door post, and my head is 1/2 inch from the edge of the headliner. What size people design these thingsOo?

Power - nowhere near the output of my '96 /270 hp upgrade, but I figure products will be popping up for that soon.

transmission - anyone know when the R48 and HO will be available??

R47's are okay if you blow 1500. in line pressure/torque upgrades, that is, if you ever pull a big load. (I don't pull often enough for a manual)

So, I looked at the other brands again, but just don't care for Ford, and don't like the looks of GM. So, I'm trying to talk myself into liking the '03's:rolleyes: .

Any input for me you have would be appreciated, especially about the R48. I don't want to order until I can get it! Thanks, I had to vent to somebody:-{} !!

Doug...

Here goes for the 3rd time...

From EVERYTHING I've heard (& read) the 48-RE 'should' be available in Jan '03.

Interior size... I must just sit differently. I'm 6'3" & 250#s. I'm not planning on taking a road trip in the back seat, but for short trip, I could manage sitting behind someone my size.

Interior layout/design/etc... I'm with you on this one. Trying to look more and more like a Phord Stuper-Duty. Looks more like a work-truck than a Laramie or SLT should.

POWER!!! It's new. Sometimes takes a few miles to get things worn in and operating better. Check the Diesel Dynamics website for up-to-date info on power mods for the '03s.

I think I hit everything you said (for the 3rd time. Stupid computer... ) Are you coming to Belen this weekend for Sandia Showdown? If so, I'll be down there late in the morning. I have to go fly the balloon in the morning. 2500 QC 4X4 white, yellow "JOB-SITE" 'Contractor's' toolbox in the bed, 5' antenna on the roof. Stop by and we'll talk.

Respectfully,

Mark Bean
