Just wondering if any members are running this set up. I have a Ca standard output, with 3. 73's and the 48RE. I am thinking seriously about the Superlift 6" lift with 35"s and the TST PMCR to overcome the obvious deficiencies. Any opinions?,Im thinking the mileage issue would be a wash, since the PMCR addresses timing. What say ye?

I wouldn't waste your $$$ on the lift. Just get the tires and mount them up. The leveler kit will clear them fine. I am running 37" tires on stock wheels and 2. 5";s of lift.

Greg

Actually mounted them up yesterday Greg. It wa VERY tight at the rear of the front tire with my 2" kit i have now. I figured once i started using the suspension hard it was all over, seems a lift is inevitable, maybe the 4" variety? ;) Whose 37"s are you running? Mark.

I'm running 35. 14" tires, DTT 48RE, and PMCR. I only have a 2" level kit and and they only rub when turning onto a inlcline. Its tight, but fills up the wheel wells good.

Mark, the new TST programs rolls power on very smooth, no hard hit like before. It's got to be easier on automatics, heck I dont even slip my 5 speed clutch anymore.

I am running 37 mtr's with a 6" superlift i have a h. o and 410,s though. As far as lift's go i wouldnt even think about a 6" lift unless you want lots of front end problems, drive line problems not to mention bump steer. I am thinking about taking out my 6" lift do to the driveability is terrible. It is just like driving my 01 w/145k on it. It looks really good though and makes a difference in the mud do to the clearence. that 's my input thanks DAVE... ...

Mark,

I like the Nittos pretty good. They have an aggressive look that still give a smooth ride for a big tire. Noise really isn't too bad, only hear them a little with the windows and radio down. I've only rotated them once and they have 20k on them and still holding up pretty good with decent tration after being dragged raced on about a dozen times and drove hard. Cost is the only downside. I didn't have much choice for an aggressive tire on a 20" wheel. Overall I'm happy with my choice.

What front end problems have you had with your lift?

With 3:73 gears and 35" tires, I would start a fund now to pay for the automatic transmission work you will soon need. Don't miss count the extra weight of the larger tires, it slows down acceleration and works the brakes much harder when it's time to stop. The 48 is already taxed enough as it is in stock configuration, the added weight of the tires, along with the reduced final gear the larger tires bring, spell certain sudden death syndrome for your trany. Don't look surprised when it happens, cause I'm telling you now to start saving for the repairs. Why can't people that want to run bigger tires have enough sense to get a truck with the tallest gears available?? They end up with a nice looking truck that can not get out of it's own Shadow. Ricer Bait!

Why cant some people think before they talk?I didnt have the option of 4. 10's when i bought, huge '03 rebates on new (at that time truck) equaled get it while you could, these trucks were literally flying off the lots. Apparently you ASSUME i didnt have the foresight to get the tallest gears available, and you would be WRONG. Your point is taken, the 48RE fund is already in the works. :) The aluminum Ultra rims i believe, offset the weight of the larger tires (i had the stock steel rims, and they are heavier than they look !) So i figure the weight is a wash,as to the brakes,i came out of a late model lifted Sooper Dooty,so i know a little about poor brakes, the Dodge is CLEARLY superior in this category. I figure a new VB and Tconverter should appease the transmission issue. Thanks for the concern though, :D

You wrote that post assuming that I and others don't know what we are doing when we put on larger tires w/ the 3. 73's and stock transmission. I for one know I'm taxing the transmission, and I'll be getting an ATS when it goes, I won't regear because I wanted to lower my gear ratio a bit. And for the record it can get out of it's way just fine and still tows great.

I agree with Mark…3. 73’s, 35’s & TST equals melt down for the 48re. I would do the VB and TC first. It won’t look as cool but you won’t have to see what it looks like on a tow truck.

Hey Brandon…sure would like to see a pic of your truck with those 20’s

As the suspension compresses, the wheels move forward. I have only hit once with 37" tires. Just barely.

I am running the 6" superlift, a beefed up 47re, 37X12. 5 on 17X10's. I have a hard time believing that someone is running 37's on a 2. 5leveling kit. I can rub on hard turns up and incline, but who knows. I have the Edge, DD3's and all the regular goodies. I absolutely love the way my truck drives. I personally thought it rode better than stock in the front end, and I haven't had any problems with front end allignment or brakes for that matter. I have run 0-60 in 6. 7seconds after the lift and the 1/4 in 14. 8, so I'd say it'll still move alright. oh yeah, forgot to mention I am also running 3. 73's. The only complaint I have is axle wrap. With the 4inch block in the rear, it really puts a lot of leverage on the springs. A hard acceleration will wrap the springs up pretty good and make some funny noises.

I also use the truck to tow my 14500lb boat and have never had any problems at all. I would say go for it, my truck gets gobs of attention, 17-18mpg on the road and is a blast to drive.

I have a super lift. 4" glad I went 4 inch not 6 I still like my buddies truck with the tuff country lift. ride nicer. the superlift seems really soft compared to the stock springs. ( personal preferance. ) I got used to it though. clears the 35's great. looks good and It is still somewhat of a PITA to get in and out of. 4" plus 35 is alot of lift.

I have the PMCR also with 3. 73's I have an 04. 5 though. egt's seem ok. gas milage has stayed about the same. maybe . 5 mpg less. nice actually. My speed limits in AZ are 65-75 everywhere so it has brought the rpms back down to compensate. towing at 70 and the RPM's are about 1800-1900 right in the torque band. DONT go wider than 12. 50 tires though. my bud's wanders all over. mine doesn't track true like stock but better than 14. 50.

:-{} For the record..... tall gear ratio = higher 3. 73's are higher than 4. 10's

A taller tire will effectively yield a taller ratio although the final drive ratio will not change.

Also, alloy wheels will not make up for the added weight of large tires. Although the overall combination may be lthe same weight (or maybe lighter) the heavier tire adds weight farther from the center where it hurts you the most. Don't get sucked into an illusion.

Got my tst installed today, VERY HAPPY :) :) hauls ass w/ the stock gears and 35's, but I can tell the auto is holding it back a bit, w/ a perf. transmission it would be much better.
