Just have about 600 miles on new truck. Seems the 48RE really shifts abruptly. Is this normal for it. Also it most of the time shifts into 4th and OD at the same instant unless you are accelerating hard. Quite different from my 99 with the older auto. Where is the best place to list my 99 for sale? Thanks. :)

I would say mine has a firm shift,... feels good. Anything lighter probably wouldn't do good with a loador if you add power (bombing it). As it is that trans is barely sufficient in it's stock form. I'll probably have to up grade to valve body kit, torq converter and billet input & output shafts if I start towing closer to my GCVW.

4th nad OD are the same thing. what you are refering to is the T/C locking up at about the same time the transmission hits OD. Mine does the same thing when I am driving around town and hit 40-50 MPH. It won't hurt anything.

superdave,

I posted my truck in the claasified on this site. I had many calls, and a ton of e-mails.

I just posted a Dakota in the classifieds yesterday. Haven't gotten a call yet (go figure with a gasser mini truck around here! LOL) but hopefully someone will feel the need to buy one for their kid in school or something! Glad to hear the classifieds work anyway.

I bought and sold mine through autotrader. I advertised other places, but by far got the most hits through the trader. If you're not in a hurry and have a little patience to wait for the right buyer you can make out pretty well. I sold mine for $1K less than I bought it for almost 3 years earlier and 70K later. Finally found someone who wanted the exact configuration I had and even drove it 200mi just to show them the truck, but it paid off. The hard part is that I'm now sitting here truckless, going through withdrawls! :-{

I test drove the sister truck to mine today,same exact truck as mine,and it shifts different than mine does,the only difference is the color both 555s and 48REs but the other truck shifted hard and seemed to be hunting a bit,mine is smooth and firm,no shudder what so ever.
