Coming up a slight grade, got to the top and it appeared that the truck died.

pumped accellerator a few times and it resumend. Went @ 3 more miles, pulled into my driveway and truck shut down. (died) Turned key back on and truck re-started run couple of minutes and died. Restarted again for a second and died. Will not start.

Have bully PMT has worked well for over a year,

No other major mods. Fuel pump? is it in the tank? Do you think that is it?

Thanks B... ... ... .

Not on the 04, should be on the side of rear of engine. Unless you have had the fuel pump replaced after 2005 as I recall that is when they started to put fuel pump into tank.

Mite be FCA (Fuel Control Actuator) also but check out fuel pump (lift/transfer pump) first.

Also check for codes!

Thanks guys, so what would you do, Can I get an aftermarket @ a NAPA store, or do I have to order one. I need to get this truck back on the road ASAP

No, an 04 will be a fuel-bowl mounted lift pump... the 03, 04, and even some early 04. 5 (mine included) are mounted to the fuel bowl.

This is a Cummins part, but they are expensive (you won't find it at dodge). Contact Alphacowboy via PM, he had a new one for sale a few weeks ago for cheap. I doubt the one they have at Napa will be the correct pump (it'll most likely be the older 2nd gen style, which mounted on the side of the block).

Other options are converting to a FASS, AirDog, glacier, or similar fuel pump... or having the in-tank lift pump done (this would be my last resort).

I guess it depends on how soon the truck needs to be back on the road...

New development,

went out this morning and it fired right up.

Runit @ wot and could not get it to stumble.

Have a code that says PO 628 Fuel pump A control circut low. ????

I believe the lift pump mounted on the filter housing is a warranty item 5yrs/100000 be worth asking for the $100 deductible. They will put the new one in the tank. Got a Genos catolog the other day and like said above they have the stock lift pump for around $200 that mounts on the filter. I did notice it come with what looks like a metal pre filter now. I would agree sounds like your lift pump is going south.
