Ideas for Shocks on 2WD 4Dr Long bed. Have Rancho ### and looking for some new ones. Rancho's weren't all that bad but collecting ideas.

Thanks BIG

I also now have Bilsteins on all my trucks. My one trucks front left shock was leaking, 03' dually (it was a Monroe "heavy duty"" shock). Those shocks only lasted 27,000 miles, just replaced them with the Bilstein 4600 series. I did return the Monroe's back to NAPA, they gave me a full purchase price back ($105.00). So.net cost for the Bilsteins --- $60.00. Not bad. You will be happy with them.

Yellow and blue Bilsteins here too. I have had my truck since new and it never rode so well as it did after the Bilsteins. Even my wife complimented how smooth it rode.

Personally, I'd got with the Bilstien's, too. For the money, they're probably the best out there. Perhaps for a stock suspension truck, they are the best I've seen.... Just my opinion. I have plenty, and they're free. (prolly only worth that much, too.... :D)

Depending on where you bought your Rancho's, they should have a lifetime warranty....

Bilstiens! I've had several KYB struts/shocks that either leaked after 20-30K miles or didn't control the bounce right out of the box as well as shocks/struts with 120K on them.

I think Monroe has gone down hill big time and prefer not to buy their stuff either, for the same reason as above.

I had 1 set of Rancho's with the adjustable knob on my 96 2500. The knob seized and wouldn't turn (hadn't adjusted them in 2 years). They were about 9 years old. Rancho wouldn't warranty them. Will never buy another set of their stuff, just for that. I had the original papers saying lifetime warranty - and they were still being sold with a lifetime warranty.

Yeah, i'm not a fan of the Monroe shocks, either. Great for a turn around project or if you have no other choice. I've blown the seals out of several sets, myself. About all you can get for the Pete, though.

The Rancho's are warrantied through Oreilly's for me, and I haven't had any problems getting them warrantied, but I buy a lot of stuff in there. I'm curious where you got yours at, if I may ask. I don't really like their stuff anyway, as it's either gated too firm or too soft. The valved shocks don't seem to last very long for me. 20k is about tops. Their 5000 series only make about 50k. I quit using them, as I just don't have the time to keep changing them out!! There are a few in stock for customer's trucks, but I won't run them unless I just don't have anything else. The Bilstien's are my go-to, unless it's a lifted truck, and I go for the Skyjacker... although I've had a few problems from them... not sure who makes them.

I bought the Ranchos at a local 4x4 place. Maybe the problem (warranty wise) was them, not Rancho.

Thinking about it, it was probably them. I had them balance a drive shaft for me after another LONG time shop retired. They said they did it. I still had a slight vibration. I proceed to spend several hundred on parts to tweak the pinion angle, replace mounts, etc. Nothing helped. I then removed a driveshaft from another customers car, put it in and it was smooth....GRRR... had them rebalance it - STILL had a vibration. I gave up with them and used my old Alemite, hose clamp, and some washers. Should just done that from the get go.

I've got my use from the Rancho's I changed them out from OEM at 50K and the wagon now has 200K plus so I believe that I've got the goodie from them. I appreciate the views as soon as I get healed up from Cataract Surgery I'm going to install Bilstien's That should do me for a long time.

Hey BIG, the world should be much brighter now after the surgery. Mine was.

I hope so Blu, Right now I had to make the letters BIG on the screen. Its hard to type and see what was said when the words are so big that one or two of them fill the screen.

I'm doing much better Blu. I think that what Doctors can do these days is MAGIC!!
