As stated in title 04.5 48re has some shifting issues. I cannot find similar issues anywhere on the web so I apologise in advance if this info is buried somewhere else.
While driving one day I was slowing down and felt what appeared to be a firm downshift. When I accelerated from the turn it seemed as though it was in 3rd and locked up. (Slow acceleration like it was under load) .I thought something had broken so I limped it the next mile back home. I dropped the pan and everything was clean and not burnt. At the recommendation of a local shop, I replaced the pressure switch, solenoid, filter, and fluid. No change. I did notice after messing with it that if you go from Park or neutral to 1st it will go into first and you can manually shift from there. However if you go to drive, it seems to start in 3rd. If you shift from drive to 1st it stays in 3rd until you move to neutral or Park.
I have since cleaned the electrical connections on the transmission with no change.
I am trying to fix it to sell it or wanting the information to pass along to any prospective buyers. I don't want to leave them in the dark.
Thanks in advance.
