04.5 Fuel Mileage and New Fan Set up

I've had my 04. 5 for about 2 months now and have 2000 miles on it. My last tank I drove about 70% of it in on back roads and around town driving. I filled it up and check my MPG and it was 16. 83 hand calc.

I've noticed people talking about fan belt problems and started to wonder about the new fan/shroud set up for the 04. 5 trucks.



This might be a long shot, but if by redesigning the shroud and enclosing it better did they cause the fan to be more efficient and place more drag on the engine?

I would think that this would cause an overall MPG drop if the drag was increased.



What do you guys think? Is it possible?

Could be. I do notice a drop of about 1 mpg running the a/c. Flat stretch of road and resetting the overhead until it stabalizes with and without a/c.
