Is there a way to get the trouble code without a scan tool just to make sure its the pump. Im almost positive its the pump just shut off at stop light. I turn key off then on wait for 30 seconds did that 3 times truck started ran for about a mile then same thing. Got truck home open fuel water seperator drain fuel left it open then turn on key no humm as is norm just clicking sound and not very much fuel pressure. first time the old girl let me down.:(:(

Sounds just like mine. They'll replace yours with the in-tank setup they've been using since '05. Much less talk about those failing.

Do you think that the factory fuel pump is as good as air dog fass pumps im not going for hp record just dont want this to happen when im on the road seeing the national parks thousands of miles from home

When I lost my pump the engine would idle but then die if I gave it any throttle. I had a spare pump that I bought from Gino's so I idled into a garage that was about a mile down the road. They hung the new pump on for me and I was out the door for $60. 00. And yes I bought a second OEM type pump that sits in my "Oh ****" box along with 2 fuel filters, a serpentine belt, top and lower radiator hoses, an assortment of fuses and a good set of jumper cables.

I have also added a fuel pressure gauge so I can hopefully have a little warning if the pump slowly drops it pressure rather then just stops. I choose not to add the in fuel tank pump and will add an after market pump if Gino's would no longer carry the oem pump.

I have had the same problem, just call Dodge they will tow you to their shop and replace it free if you have less than 40,000 mi or $100. 00 deductable if you are over 40,000.

You can check codes by turning key to on position (do not start), then off, on, off, and on. Leave in ON position and watch odometer. Will give any codes and then DONE when complete. Lift pump may not show a code though.

Do the key trick. Without trying to start the truck, turn the key on,off,on,off, and on for the third time and the codes will display in the odometer. Have a pen and paper ready to write them down. If I remember correctly, a 628 code is the fuel pump.

Also the pump is covered under the 5 year 100k mile warranty of the engine. Mine was replaced at 92k with the intank pump on their dime. If you are stock or close to stock, the factory replacement pump will suit your needs. The Fass and Airdog are good for higher HP applications, but unless you just want to spend $500, I'd let dodge do it.
