Off Roading so you think you have an Off Road Rig......

Competition Hello, racers, pullers?

 Can someone tell me the part #'s to order a set of 2004. 5 H. O. pistons?

Hoss I believe that's the kind shown on Red Rocket Diesel. com right? Do you know the part #'s off hand?

Thanks... :D

Yes those are the pistons in my engine.

I do not have the part # Piers ordered them so maybe you could give him a call and get the number from him?

Piers is in Alaska on vacation, don't bother him while he is fishing. :D

I am sure he left someone behind that can get you the parts.

If you would like a good place to buy any dodge Cummins parts , there is a dealership where I raced my comp program out of , and they will give whole sale to any one out of town. They are very knowledgeable about Cummins parts and order all my pistons . the sales man that has my part numbers, a guy named Mike. . I have a ring program that is very reasonable and converts the second ring to a Gapless ring. And use another company to do the NASCAR / INDY CAR coating on them after we do valve relief’s .

of if you want a complete piston with coatings ,gapless rings with valve relief’s Call RAYMAC racing engines and talk to Ray Little. He is building quit a few motors for diesel drag racing . the new spring / titanium retainer package is real neat also , it will cover over . 585 lift and hold the valve shut during high boost . this spring drops in place of the stock spring and will set up at 1. 400 @ 125 lbs an coil bind @ . 765 the springs and retainer package will also set up as high as 1. 500 and give you 90 lbs on the seat this is accomplished with out any machine work to the head. The spring also comes with a seal

just curious will these miracle springs you speak of work for a 12v also? and a side question are the springs for a 12 and 24 valve the same just more for the 24v?

I would never bother a man while he's on vacation- fishing... I called and they didn't have a part # for me either... . Was told they order them as 2004. 5 H. O. pistons... ... ... :(

3970192 :) Those are for the 04. 5 engines.

The ones on redrocket.com are 03/04 pistons.

The 04. 5-05 have no step before the entering the bowl area of the piston.

The 600/610 pistons look just like a Marine-370 piston bowl but on a larger and centered scale.

It is sort of hard to tell from the picture but I am 99% sure that those are not 04. 5 pistons.

Hey jwilliams- THANKS man!:D - and no I didn't know that!! Thanks for the part#. It's great to get the numbers from someone in your position Thanks again!!

I don't want to de-rail the thread but why don't we ever hear about RAYMAC other than when COMP brings it up. Does anyone else on here use his stuff? Does he have any references?

Ray-Mac doesn't need to advertise, so you won't see an ad for them in Hot Rod or PHR.

Most people who know of them are some of a small handful of people that can afford the best (or have sponsors that can:p)

Raymac has no shortage of workload, and their work is considered to be at the very top, among the best of the best.

If you think Raymac needs to provide you with some credentials, then you have very little experience or background in drag racing.

JMO, of course.

I had heard of Raymac in the drag racing world but never in the diesel world. You just don't see him listed with names like Piers, Banks, etc. and no one else on TDR talks about his diesel knowledge.

here is a BIO about Ray Little

Ray Little- Ray graduated from Texas A & I University in 1988 with a Bachelors of Science-Industrial Technology degree. Soon after graduating from college Ray began working for Lozano Brothers Porting in San Antonio, TX. While at Lozano Brothers, Ray designed and built engines for GTP, Trans AM, NASCAR, Can Am, Indy, Camel Light, and ARCA racing. The experience gained at Lozano Brothers allowed Ray to attain a position at one of the most respected engine shops in the country, Reher-Morrison Racing Engines in Arlington, TX. The late Buddy Morrison recognized Ray's exceptional understanding of racing engines and placed him in charge of all special projects. This allowed Ray to design and build a wide array of racing engines including: NHRA Pro Stock, Pro Stock Truck, NASCAR Truck, Trans AM, IMSA, IHRA, and World Of Outlaws just to name a few. Ray built the first 555 bracket engine ever sold by Reher-Morrison and has built hundreds of large displacement, drag race engines since then. Ray has performed extensive research and development with a wide variety of fuel, lubricant, carburetion, fuel injection, and nitrous oxide injection systems.

While at Reher-Morrison, Ray spent thousands of hours testing and tuning all types of engines on the dyno. Dyno testing is where an engine builder learns what works and what doesn't. Ray's many years of experience designing and testing racing engines has given him an exceptional ability to design and build engines that are reliable and competitive.

Ray is an exceptional instructor, he trained many of the employees currently working at Reher-Morrison. He has also been hired by Ford and GM to teach engine building to dozens of their employees. Ray is currently working for Race Tech teaching Holley Carburetor fuel systems classes to GM employees several times a year.

Ray is highly respected throughout the racing industry. Many of the industries top parts companies seek and respect his opinions about their products. Ray designs many of the camshaft and piston profiles used in Ray Mac’s engines. While most engine shops specialize in one or two types of engines, Ray's extensive experience with so many different types of engines, allows RAYMAC to build a reliable, competitive engine for almost any type of racing. Including diesels , Ray is currently developing engine programs for several different diesel teams , including the motor for a G. M. PERFORMANCE Duramax , to be campaigned in NHRA’s top sportsman, and top dragster ranks
