04.5 to 04 Reflash?

With all the posts on poor fuel economy of the '600's' I was thinking... ... ... ... ... .



What if even after 10-15K the MPG's are still not that of the 03, 04's. Would it be concievable to reflash the ECU to the specs of an 03. Are the 04. 5's backward compatible with the 03's.



From what I understand the difference between 04 and 04. 5 is mainly software and some hardware.

The software that does REFLASH and ECM will not allow for older code to be installed. Once you move up to a code level you cannot go back.

not only that, it would be illegal for DC to do it. and you'd have to change turbos to the 03 style that doesn't have ECM controlled wastegate.



on the 04. 5, the head is different, the piston bowl is different, I think even the injectors are different.
